I'm sure this thread will piss off a lot of purists, so I'll start by saying... I'm going to hell, made my piece with the all mighty, and in the process he said "f*ck it, go for it".

Are there any aftermarket "tactical" stocks for the .30 carbine (synth, pistol grip, RIS etc)? Something along the lines of the M1A's being done up lately. And I don't mean a 40's para stock with a piece of Pic screwed to it. I've seen the Ultimak top and it still leaves me craving something more. I believe that the .30 carbine is a sorely underrated and underused rifle and I'd like to cross one over to the dark side. I've had 3 of them and sold two. The one I am left with I still enjoy shooting, playing tag with yotes and sitting on the couch listening to that one of a kind ka chink when you work it. So since she's put in her time, and like an dependable girlfriend I'd like to dress her up and take her to the prom.

Any suggestions? I consider myself pretty savvy with the internet and still I am here asking. There's got to be something somewhere that'll fit the bill...

If it's already bubba'd with a non-restricted barrel, go for it, mod it all you want......
I have an old synthetic choate side folding pistol grip stock that came on a universal m1 I was given. I don't know if choate still makes folders, but they make a pistol grip stock for the m1 still

Choate does make one with pistol grip and without the folding stock, i bought one about 9-10 years ago from Milarm but if i remember correctly they won't fit the original m1's just the newer made ones like Universal. Guy's correct me if i'm wrong.

The one I have left is an Issue'd Inland carbine that my father had the barrel replaced on way back. Still in factory config but with a #####-barrel. The stock has been refinished and steel reblued more times than I can count and it's been a frontline farm defender for 30 years. Yet it's always taken care of, and looks mint (albeit refinished). It's got a lot of sentimental value, but as a tool not as a collectable. I don't want to toss on a bunch of Universal garbage on it, but I want to take it out of the long grass and out to meet the Fig. 11's.

The Choate ones I know won't fit because I tried my friends stock. I just find it hard to believe that with that many made there's not a cult of bastards like myself wondering how to get this gun back into the game.

"...and underused rifle..." That's because it has been restricted since 1978. No ATT's for restricted rifles.
"...playing tag with yotes..." No hunting with restricted firearms in Ontario either.
Universal parts won't fit a milsurp carbine. Choate et al make synthetics, most of which won't go on a late model Universal.
And there is no such thing as a 'tactical' anything.

If you are refering to something similat to the above. My M1 carbine was one of the modified police carbines. It has had the rear site moved to over the chamber. I did not like these iron sights so I added an ultimak rail for a red dot scope. No drilling or any modifing required for the rail mount. I then added a ramline synthetic stock that I painted myself. Also strapped a lazer pointer under the barrel.

Wow, thanks for taking time out of your busy schedual to piss in the circle..

It's a milsurp Inland that was rebarreled in the early 80's by my father. It is registered non-restricted, and as such is perfectly legal to hunt with.. as with other non-restricteds. I also understand the compatibility issues with universals and milsurp rifles, hence my post. But if you don't have a response to the question and are just bent out of shape because of my choice to use the word "tactical" in my thread, feel free to send me a PM and I can "tactically" choose to tell you to piss off.

Back on track, soldier506, My buddy has exactly the same setup but I'd like something a little more rugged. I was wondering since I've seen & heard of more PD's in the states and some units in the EU using these again, that someone would be making some money on the customization side of it. For a great rifle that's been around that long, I'm just surprised there isn't something more kicking around.
