Modern Varmint "Factory" Version

Sorry. We only sell our rifles as complete tested firearms, mostly for liability reasons but also for saving us a pile of headache from the DIY crowd. We can be manufacturing firearms which means we make money or answering questions from guys trying to DIY and save themselves a buck, which costs us a pile of money in wasted time that I still have to pay my guys for.
Our Modern Hunters and Varmints are NOT standard ARs by any means. Almost all of what would equate to a LPK is proprietary parts that only we have, so a stripped lower would not do you any good at all. And that is before we get into the specialized tooling employed to assemble the lowers.

could you produce a rifle, minus any non milspec parts? and we sign a liability waiver :) im compentent to build and test a firearm, just poor lol

Waivers are not worth the paper they consume and litigation defense is incredibly expensive.

In the automobile world essentially what you are asking for is to have Ford, GM or whoever offer a DIY car. They supply the basics and you supply some of the parts and some labor. When it doesn't work properly who is on the hook to make it work? Who are the lawyers going to go after in the event of something bad happening. The guys with the potential to pay out large settlements, not the guy who botched the assembly and has no insurance or assets to lay claim to.
Our insurance is VERY clear on the fact that we do NOT sell untested or partially assembled proprietary firearms, period.

We could completely re-design our rifles to employ more milspec parts, but that would A) be extremely expensive, B) require yet another opportunity for the SFSS/RCMP to deem our rifles as restricted as it would need to be inspected again for possible classification changes and C) would rather defeat what we have done.

The only milspec parts in our lowers is the mag release, button and spring, the front take down pin, detent and spring and the grip screw, so a total of 7 parts worth about $20.00

Sorry but short answer is no. We already make a black rifle that will accept 95% of the milspec parts available, it is called an AT15, but it is restricted but costs far less. Being as it is so close to any other AR15 we can sell stripped uppers and lowers with impunity, but the rest of the firearms we manufacture are different enough to be proprietary.

The biggest mistake we find is that guys seem to think that our Modern series rifles are just another AR because they are similar in looks, design and operation but they are also VERY different in many respects from an AR, which is why they are not legally classified as an AR variant.

Since we started manufacturing our own actions and lowers in 2008 we have been proactive and started producing all of our serialized parts UN compliant from day 1. We felt it would only be a matter of time until Canada elected some moron to ruin the country and adopt this bucket of useless stupidity.

that is already happening sir!.

as for the FSB, clamp on FSB like the armalite? no need to drill and pin.

Quick question, why would you design a complicated AT,MV,MH lower receiver that requires specialized tooling to assemble in the first place when it uses common AR trigger groups? Generally people need to disassemble there firearms for maintenance and such and this design limits that apparently...

Not bashing ATRS by any means but maybe you should sell the specialized tools for your lowers so owners can perform maintenance or customize instead of having down time if they have to send there gun back in.

What's the lightest version of the Modern Varmint with the carbon fibre-wrapped SS barrel?

I am at 8lbs square with no mag in the gun. MV , light barrel,14" fortis switch, mft minimalist stock, hogue grip, vg6 gamma brake, 2 three inch keymod rail section, magpul rear qd sling mount, leupold vx-r 4-12×40 into aero precision extended mount.

Well the special tool is for the upper, not lower. And I prefer a special tool then a restricted gun.

The ONLY part in the lower that can not be serviced by the consumer is the trigger pack, and there simply is no reason that this should ever need to be removed by the consumer.
We employ specific gages and tools to aid in the correct instal and set up of the trigger pack.
 
one twentish has one that comes in at 7.1 lbs.

That weight is with a LMT Sopmod stock (not light), an A2 grip, an AP Customs Mlok Carbon Fiber 17" forend (shorter would be that much lighter) and at the time no muzzle device. Weight is with out a mag.

I think one could easily obtain 6.5lbs before optics if they were careful in their parts choice. 6lbs is probably even in the relm of possibility, but the forend might be short enough to look really goofy on that long of a barrel and gas system.

The whole point of the design was to put as many features as possible to be different from an AR in order to achieve NON Restricted status, which we did. Part of the equation to getting the desired legal status was in the employment of a proprietary trigger group, which the Timney we use, is, and it is a huge improvement over the cheap milspec type trigger group.
We broke new ground with these guns, no-one else to date has successfully designed and manufactured a NON restricted rifle that is as close to an AR as ours is.

It is far easier and FAR less risky financially to simply reproduce someone else's existing design that already has the desired status.

Keep in mind it is human nature to tinker and build things, that is where you started off as well. So yes there might be a need for the trigger pack to be removed by the consumer...

My main interest a few years ago was in your restricted AT15 (AR15) lower but was told the same thing by you, specialized tools are required, so I moved along.
