Modern Varmint What IF?

That way, the turn around time will shorter, right ? it's like that you can made them faster than the customized model.

I really like one but waiting 4 to 6 months is really long.

This. Even if I had the money all at once for the rifle, the long wait is what's holding me back.
There's a lot of other guns I could be enjoying in that 6 month waiting period.

Sounds like a great idea to get the price down to the XCR-L / X-95 ballpark. I'd delete the ambi bolt release as well to save the extra machining / assembly time. Change to a .750 gas block. And see if you could put the barrel extension pin in the conventional location. I'm already dreaming of a Faxon Flame fluted barrel.

18.6" barrel instead of 20" possible? How about no stock or handguard option for those that have parts laying around or they can source exactly what they want when more funds are generated.

Wouldn't a low price make the gun restricted?
I always thought certain rifles we not restricted just because they were unaffordable amyway.

Isn't MSRP of over $3,000 code for "unrestricted?

Sorry for the sarcasm.

But yes I would be interested in a low cost version.

Like the Ruger Precision Rifle... at the reasonable price, we don't mind upgrading later, but if they sold a premium version at twice the price, they would not sell very many. Even if in the end, we get their eventually anyway. In that sense we like spending our dollars in smaller bits.

My wife will blow $60 twice a week at walmart rather than make one trip for $120. Human nature I suppose.

We can source our own stock, grip, handguard, iron sights and flash hider or muzzle brake. Do this for both Varmint and Hunter :)

It would appear that at the right price, ATRS's biggest problem will be to keep up with demand!!

Decision time: skinny down on the margins and sell lots to the unwashed masses and gut the high margin high end sales, or stay the course and continue to reap much Internet warrior scorn along with limited sales to a niche audience.

This is a marketer's paradox and/or nightmare. Will the upper/Lower remain the same? I would actually consider retiring my Rob Arms for an MV in 6.5 Grendel if it is @$2 - $2.5k price range and gets in under 2moa.

I think i would rather buy Canadian if i could....XCR's are still on the wife jaw dropping now way in hell i would get divorced if i spent that much type category......but a cheaper option would be awesome to see from you guys...the rifles you make are beauties......good luck with all the future endeavors

Yes indeed. There are threads looking to bring back 180b...theres another waiting for a 308 to be finalized as NR. All the while ATRS already have both calibers NR. I don't know of any shooter that would not want at least one of each caliber in their cabinet or safe. So the problem I suppose would be keeping up with the demand....for a long time.

If these could be built bare bones and were compatible with a standard AR barrel I'd be in for one and a second upper with only a BCG. I already have a non restricted length 300BLK barrel in my collection of parts and I have lots of stocks, buffer tubes, and an AP Custom carbon fiber forend I'd throw on it.

I was told earlier that although the bolt face opening on 6.5 Grendel and x39 are the same they vary in the depth of the face so you can not safely use a 6.5 bolt for x39.
I personally hate the idea of a rifle like this in x39.

Having just spent time on my x39 ar bolts and Grendel, what you state is sadly very true.

As an aside, with an A5 buffer, the x39 in an AR is fabulous. With an adjustable gas block, it feels like it was always meant to be. Just my 2 cents.

I would be very interested in this! To echo some of the other comments on this thread: is there any consideration to make a similar version of the Modern Hunter?
