Modern Wingmasters? Quality Level?

I think you will be pleased. I have a Featherlight Waterfowl edition that I bought used on the EE for less than most 870 express shotguns sell for. I have never handled a Wingmaster, but I can't see it being higher quality than the Ithaca, there is literally no plastic on my gun at all, and somehow they make it a light, fast handling field gun as well, must be magic...

I think the same can be said about most everything in the country being more expensive, not just wingmasters.
 
Bought a Wingmaster last Saturday in 12ga .... and she is a beauty. Fit and finish is good.
I own several 870s and it seems to be a hit or miss ...

One 870P had an unpolished barrel ... I mean you stick your little finger into the barrel and you can feel the tool marks.
That thing was a pain to clean after shooting slugs ... the lead would stick to that barrel ....

And on another 870P the fitting of the stock was really really bad ....

But I am happy with my new Wingmaster ...
 
Newer Wingmasters actually have nicer checkering: a simple point-pattern with cut checkering versus the fleur-de-lys pressed checkering found on older ones.
 
I have a strong belief that "they don't make em like they used to" sadly applies to pretty much everything now in this disposable throw away society we live in these days. as such I made sure to try and get older versions of all my pumps. the 500A i have is the newest and it's a 1980! (CDN made too!)

i LOVE my m37. it's my fave pump i own now. (i have a 500A, a wingmaster and 2 m37's)

If you buy a brand new one I don't think you will have any complaints they are still great guns, but I am really keen to see how these new ones hold up over time.
