has anyone modified a shotgun ? if I cut off the butt and make a pistol grip and cut the barrell at 19 in and have overall 30 in , will this be legal ?on the cfc website it says 26 overall and 18 in barrell , but I have never modified and rifle or shotgun , so just to assure that what I plan to do is legal I ask you?

OAL is over 26" so that's fine
Barrel length is over 18" so that's also fine
The pistol grip I'm not sure of, you can buy pistol griped shotguns that are legal and fine with the above mentioned specs, but I'm not sure if you can modify the stock itself into a pistol grip and be fine. Someone else will have to tell you that one. And people will probably wonder what's the point of doing this.

The point is probably not having to pay $25 to $40 for a plastic pistol grip . May I suggest you buy a plastic pistol grip and save your shoulder stock because after using a pistol grip only, it gets kind of boring , shooting something that punishes you and you don't hit the target as often as with a regular stock. Pistol grip stocks have their place but I like the option to go back to the original stock for hunting or a round of informal trap, and put on the pistol grip for backwoods protection or a short gun in camp or pack. . Just an opinion.
