Modified Leapers tri-rail + CZ858

Wasn't the VZ made to replace the AK when the czech's left the comm block? There-fore improvements on design!

Like the rail.. wouldn't that affect the harmonics of the barrel when fired?

It might, but it already has a gas block, piston, foregrips (upper and lower), front sight with loose fitting thread protector already messing with the harmonics... so I'm not too concerned about that. Not to mention the barrel is very thin (a heavy barrel is more consistent with accuracy as it will not vibrate as much).

It's a moot point though since I don't have tri-burst or full-auto (where barrel harmonics would play a bigger role) :)

It shoots quite accurately and I can get consistent <1" off-hand groups at 50m - I'm waiting for range time to try 100m and 200m.

The russians allowed the VZ58 to be developed and issued because they knew their rule over the czechs was tenuous at best. They knew it was going to be give and take or war, so they made a deal.

No East-European country left the so-called "com-block" (Warsaw Pact)
until 1990, when they were given permission to do so.

The actual briefing on things to come, forecast and the final goodbye hug
was given by M. Gorbachev at a secret flash meeting
with the said "com-bloc" leaders in Sept. 1989
that it is said to have lasted less than 2 hours.

Previous attempts (anti-com uprisings)
like the ones in Czechoslovakia and Hungary were dealt with
in a very nasty way.

After 1953-54, USSR had no problems selling AK and others
to ANY communist regime in Europe (less Yugoslavia - 1960?).
That includes Chechoslovakia, who did buy
AK's and related (not as many as others),
artilery pieces, tanks and few other things between 1956-1988.
After 1959-60 USSR made available AK manufacturing licences
to these countries as well.
Heck, when they were in a better mood, they sold licences
to non-communist countries as well (Finland for instance).

Should not be a big problem for Dlask to manufacture a basic clamp with a flat mating surface on which you could bolt a dedicated mounting module for a given model of sight (OKO, Docter, Kobra, etc...).
This would allow co-witnessing with many sighting units just by changing the adaptor plate.
PP. :)
P-S: I would gladly pay $150.00 for one. ;);)

I would add this: if he could use the two small shoulders on the gas block where the upper handguard abuts as a reference for an upper fastening point, this could be a very stable mount.
The adaptor plates would differ in thickness to achieve the same height of the aiming dot among the different reflex sights. the adaptor plates (Weaver or Picatinny pattern) could be fastened to the mount base by flush mount screws or a lengthwise dovetail with a single troughbolt for stop. Sky is the limit in design...
PP.

Currently in the works are mounts for mini red dots, first up is fastfire/docter. next will be trijicon/jpoint. All I will say for now, is they will be mounted farther back than these barrel mounts, will allow for co-witness and will not need to be removed for cleaning.

Yes putting a mount between the stock and the action is a good idea, one I've toyed with for a while. My problem as it stands is that the mount ends up hitting my face when i fire with the factory stock. I was working on mounting an adjuasable BUIS in that location but the bugs are still to be worked out. Ultimately either a longer stock needs to be added for people like me to be able to use it properly.

Either way we've completely hijacked this thread, sorry G37.

Very good idea.
I've seen it done some time ago.
