Añother vote for Vic. Quick, reasonably priced and no refinishing required. If you ever make it to the WTSC I can show you a sample of his work
I have a 80's Citori trap that the comb is just a bit too high. Id like to convert it to an adjustable comb and refinish in an oil finish.
I am wondering if there is anyone in MB or eastern Sask that you would recommend to modify my stock.
Thanks
If the comb is too high, adding an adjustable comb won’t really help. Adjustment is up and side to side. You don’t really get any downward adjustment unless you take some wood out. Doing so would result in an odd looking stock when the comb is in the neutral position, negatively affecting resale. Just my opinion.
If it’s just a bit high, why not file/sand it down a bit at a time until you have it dialed in? Lee Valley sells a Japanese Woodworking File that requires minimal sanding after using.
I had adjustable combs installed, so I could lower the combs. When the stock is cut and sanded, material is lost, in the case of my guns, the comb was lowered almost 1/8'.
Sounds like he does some good work, Would you happen to have his contact info Email or phone you could message me?
Thanks again all
