I have a 22 lr bolt action that I would like to have changed over to either a 22 mag or hornet. Is it possible? if so, who does it? Just curious as I have a few 22lr's laying around. Thanks, -Jason

.22 magnum is possible depending on what model/manufacturer you have. .22 Hornet is not possible as it is a centrefire cart....probably cheaper to just keep the .22LR and buy a .22 Mag.....

You'd need another barrel for the .22 mag. It'd likely cost more than your rifle is worth. Cheaper and less fuss to just buy a new rifle. Just remember that .22 mag ammo is considerbly more expensive than .22 LR.

I had a Cooey model 75 opened up to 22 mag....with original barrel......never had a problem with it, and it shot most accurately....

The gun is actually a cooey model 60. The barrel is accurate and looks to be a bull barrel. There is approx 1/4" wall thickness at the muzzle. Gunasaurus, who did your gun? Thanks again, -Jason

Gene Gunning of Gene's Gunsmithing in Selkirk, MB did mine approx 4-5 years ago, but from what I hear, Gene is temporarily closed due to illness. You can't do the Model 60 though. Too complicated to get it to feed from the mag tube. This is strictly a single shot proposition I'm afraid. You'ld be better off purchasing a new rifle in 22 mag.....IMHO that is....
