I have a CRB Kriss Vector Gen 2 In .45 acp.
It is a great gun, and I really enjoy it. My only wish is that I bought it in the srb version.
I was thinking of selling it and buying an SRB version. But there don't appear to be any Gen 2 SRBs available.
A friend recommended I get it modified, barrel cut down to a srb. This would obviously switch it from NR to restricted. But would allow me to actually select any barrel size I wish, probably 8-10 inches.
How does one go about legally modifying a rifle, and how is the paperwork done.
I would be using a gunsmith, and obviously want to stay on the right side of the law.
Please advise?

That makes perfect sense with my reading of the law. If sense is the right word.
So assuming I buy n after market barrel for the Vector that is shorter than 18 inches this would them make it restricted.
How does one go about registering it, or is the effort just not worth it?
Sell the CRB and Buy an SRB?

You'll need to find a verifier to examine the rifle and fill out the forms and send them to the RCMP. Most gun shops have a verifier. Usually not a free service. I was told $50 at my local shop.

Edit

Also, for your situation, it would be much cheaper and easier to sell or trade your NR rifle for an SBR. They do make them in Gen 2, in .45 and 9mm. Keep an eye out on the EE.

Send it to Ian at Herron Arms, he was doing 10mm auto conversions on gen 1 rifles and I'm sure he could take care of it for you and also take care of the required paperwork.
I think financially you'd be better off selling it and finding a short one when the next shipment comes in to your local retailer. You'll end up spending $500+ to have the work done and the rifle will be worth no more than it is now (probably less).

If you cut it that short it becomes PROHIBITED
Although you can buy them restricted; if you were to do it, it becomes prohib
Not sure if that is only if there are no restricted class of the same firearms

Can someone correct me please...
