Modifying a rifle extension to suit M4 feed ramps

Have any board members done this? I may have to do this when my parts turn up. Heard it can be done with a dremel tool, if you are competent with one...Part of my 20" AR build that totally slipped my mind

Had a friend do one for me,did a good job. It's easy enough,but take your time.

Just go slow,and touch it up with a file and some emery cloth.

You can just leave it. It will function just fine.

Here's a little guide that may help you determine whether it needs anything done.

Combinations and problems are as follows:

No M4 uppper + no M4 barrel extension - no problem
M4 upper + M4 barrel extension - no problem
M4 upper + no M4 barrel extension - could be a problem - you may have to contour the barrel extension to line up with the M4 cutout in the upper to eliminate the extension 'overhang'.
No M4 upper + M4 barrel extension - should be no problem

You can just leave it. It will function just fine.

Unless he has an upper receiver with the M4 cuts. If he does, it would be wise for him to get a barrel extension with the cuts as well.

If your upper receiver does not have M4 feed ramp cuts, you do not need to take a dremel to your barrel.

Yeah if the barrel has a rifle extension if will look like the "bad" photo. Pretty sure it will.
