My wife would like a Browning BLR. She uses mine now but it seems very awkward. Any ideas on modifications to make it more comfortable for her to shoot? Also any suggestions on who could do those modifications? Thank you in advance.

The BLRs have a lot of drop at the comb and some shooters find it difficult to use the scope as their eye is too low with a good cheek weld. I used a leather comb raiser from Cabelas on my wife's rifle to solve the problem.

LOP is simply too long for smaller folks. It's the same reason we have youth size rifles with short stocks so the shorter arms can hold them.

If she's going to be shooting it enough that you're happy buying a rifle just for her then you should be happy enough to get the stock shortened enough to fit her well and a new recoil pad installed.

And yeah, if it will have a scope on it then a hammer extension is a great idea.

This sort of work is pretty basic for any gunsmith. You don't list in your profile where you live so it's hard to suggest anything local. But it shouldn't take a whole lot of asking at the gun store. In fact the gun store likely takes in any number of such jobs and ships them out to some local smith. Likely they even have some examples of the workmanship.

The lop is too long= cut stock and install new grind to fit recoil pad
Cheek won't contact properly= use a comb raising device, like a leather comb piece

I did all this for the wife, then I just carved a stock that fit her properly. Any qualified gunsmith that will work with wood will be able to help you out. Shotgun guys are doing these mods all the time. If I had my time over, get her away from the blr and into a different rifle that fits better from the start.
