I`ve been reading the threads on casting your own bullets and the all the comment`s on what is required ( finding lead, melting, fluxing etc...), as well as lead, tin, antimony mixtures and using molds to achieve the "perfect" bullet...So how about having a separate room to discuss and ask questions concerning a rather interesting subject?......
What say you, Oh Lords of CGN?.....

I think bullet casting belongs in the reloading thread. (I just finished casting a little over 1200 bullets for .380, 9mm, 40S&W, and .38S&W using a mix that would make most casters cringe).
Lead isotopes containers, wheel weights, pure antimony and linotype. Used the fingernail hardness test after dropping bullets into a pail of cold water.

You might want to take a look at the Castboolits website, lots of information there on casting & loading.

I've been thinking this since I got into it. Castboolits is a great site but I like talking to you guys more.

The bigger CGN gets the more a force to be reckoned with it becomes. I'm glad to see an archery section was added yesterday.

I agree this is getting out of hands, too many new subs.

join the cast boolits forum for info exclusively on casting...

I have to agree with the rest of you. If every second post was about bullet casting, fine, split it off. What is it in reality ?? 1 in 50.....1 in 100 ?? Not worth it.

well, maybe if there was a dedicated place to talk about it here people will less likely refer to the cast bullet forum and use this forum more. in addition this would be a Canadian casters area not a predominantly american one.

just my 2 cents

Do not, I repeat, do not get more folks casting bullets. There is too much competition for wheel weights already. Some of the tyre stores are now asking money for them instead of paying a recycler a disposal fee.

I'm all for it

It would be nice to discuss casting from a Canadian point of view.

As for the lack of threads, how many archery threads were there before that forum opened up??

More casting threads will appear if there is a forum for it.

By some of the logic expressed earlier, we might as well just post everything in one big forum and just sort through it all.

What's the big deal about a new forum? It just keeps things more organized. It's not costing anything...

I would be interested in a cast bullet site. It could also include the loading and shooting of cast bullets etc. I've went through nearly 500 lbs of wheelweights since I started. Most of it through milsurplus rifles. An interesting hobby. Shoot lots more for less.

Wheel weights are impossible to get locally because of home made shot and cast bullet shooters. Same with pure lead. There is an incredible amount of competition for wheel weights at the local tyre store.
