So I'm planning to doing an AR build and am thinking 18 inch barrel. I look through my magazines and there are spiral fluted and carbon fiber wrapped barrels in the States but I never see any of that stuff here.
I'm trying to keep it light and also want accurate so a high grade medium contour with nice fluting or carbon wrap would be sweet.
Does anyone know where we can find some barrels like these in Canada?
I'm hoping to spend under $500 for the barrel but could go higher if that's what it takes to get what I want.
I'm also leaning toward the HERA ARMS upper/lower set with their long forend as the base of my build.

I purchased an 18 inch ATRS heavy barrel from the EE and now I need to build the rest of it.
Any suggestions on brand of upper,trigger and BCG?
I have a Stag complete lower to use if I just build an upper but am considering going with a matched upper/lower set.
I'm leaning toward the HERA ARMS upper/lower set with their 15 inch forend for my build. Also looking at Vltor and Noveske but can't find any Noveske stripped uppers.
I want a BCG with nickel boron and have found a few options but wonder if anyone has any experience with them and would warn me away from any particular brand? Right now I'm leaning toward a Spikes BCG from Questar but they are not in stock and who knows how long I will have to wait for one.

If you want match quality, Mystic Precision sells McGowan barrels. You can specify your length, chamber, profile, and twist rate. I got one and am very satisfied with it so far. The only downside is that you get to wait, a bit over 5 months in my case. I knew that going in and accepted it, so it wasn't a problem, but it does take patience.

Got any longer ones coming in? I'm looking for 18 inch and want something light and fancy looking with fluting or carbon fiber that still provides excellent accuracy.
I know Noveske are really good barrels but not exactly what I'm looking for.

I would go with ATRS for a match build , we have lots of AR15 bbls, but this run are all 10.5,11.5 and 14.5

I think that's the one I'm going to order.
Just need to decide on an upper and possible matched lower and trigger.

since you are getting a barrel from ATRS might as well get a matched bolt off them as well.
