Does anyone know the history and origin of the Mohawk 555 rifle? I spotted one in an estate recently and I am told it is a sporterized Tokerov with a .303 British barrel fitted. I would like to learn what I can, like when were they made and by whom. Also, how many were made etc. Thanks guys.

Globco Arms in Ottawa did it I believe. They used No 1 Mk III SMLE barrels. The headspace is usually way off, and some consider them dangerous. They are apparently very hard if not impossible to disassemble, particularly the gas cylinder assembly.
A Mickey Mouse job all around...

Now, some hunt with them and like em....YMMV.

After my gunsmith advised me not to fire mine sight unseen . He told me fireing a mohawk is like eating a can of beans . You dont know whitch bean makes you fart but eventually one of them dose. In referance to the action blowing out . Another fellow told me he saw one pop on a guy at the range . After that i retiered it .

Hey guys. Good to hear from you. Why would it be difficult to disassemble? Most military actions are specifically designed for easy field stripping. What's with that? What do you mean, one popped at the range? Did the action blow apart?

The SVT 40 isn't easy to disassemble in stock form...add Globco's mods and you have a rifle that can't be cleaned...plus which they weren't built properly in the first place.

Search is your friend.

The bolt didn't lock , aparently it's not uncommon for the bolt on a globe mohawk not to lock .
