moisin nagant.. any good

"I sight mine in for 100 paces with a scope, but even with Kentuky windage it brings in hits on the low side."

Trying sighting it 1.8 to 2 inches high at 100 yards like you would a 308 or 30-06.

Bubbafy means committing the horrible sin of desecrating a historical surplus rifle by using Dremels and other barbarous instruments to inexpertly turn it into an ugly parody of a sporting rifle, when there are perfectly affordable used or inexpensive sporting guns available. It's synonymous with butcher.

There is a special hell reserved for people who bubba milsurps.

PS Militaria are reportedly good to deal with. I've bought two Mosins from TradeEx (see their ad on top of the page) and have been extremely satisfied with their service and the rifles.

x2 for Tradex

That god damn movie:p

I picked up a 91/30 from weimajack today because of that movie:slap:

I got to pick out the one I wanted, and at a good price. Got my ammo from Marstar yesterday, so hopefully this weekend, I can take it out for a spin:ar15:

We all know that Vassily's issue sniper is reposing in The Great Hall of the People, so it couldn't have been that one.:p Then how about the one that Vassily picked up when pinned down in the fountain and then used to pop that heartless, pot-bellied Nazi taking a shower plus a few more so that he and the political officer could make a break for it? Or maybe it was the one that was dropped by his sardonic steel-toothed sniper buddy that the major cross-haired in mid air? Personally I'm still watching the EE for one of the two that those sniper chicks used. ;)

Mosins are great, dirt cheap bolt actions. You will not break it. Get the Carbine if you want something that will scare the bejesus out of yourself, anyone around you, the animal you're pointing it at, people a mile away, etc. Get the 91/30 if you want a solid, dependable, reasonably accurate rifle.

Mine was my choice for deer season this year, and I had no qualms about beating the hell out of it, wrapping it in camo mesh, dragging it through mud - and knew it would get the job done. The ammo is interesting if you're reloading, as it will often take the same calibre bullet (not round, but bullet!) as the .303 British - I reload for both so it cuts down those costs. The bayonet is a novelty, but a big, long pointy one. I use mine as a letter opener and cat-jabber.

Theyre decent rifles, and a hell of a lot of fun. Not parting with mine anytime soon. The big issue is ammo, but marstar has some decent stuff, if you're willing to buy a case of ~800rds. For less, reloading is the way to go, though you can find commercial loads sometimes, depending on where you are.
