"Uhoh. I just bought another one. M44 with German Waffenampts... "

Many fakes of this type, if it has several Waffennants all over the stock, it is a fake brought in 10 nto 15 years ago. Real ones only have a very small waffenant a the bottom part of the stock in the wrist area.

Got it from John at Marstar. Pretty sure its for real as he got it directly from the Yugo warehouse with a bunch of others...

I've a Polish carbine that works like a dream.
Use 180 S and B and it groups like a varmit rifle.
Dropped a white tail buck about 5 years ago like the hammer of hell.
Very accurate, almost bullet/idiot proof and a keeper for me.

Yes. I have been told it's a fake tho. Not gunna pay for it unless I'm sure its authentic.

Seems odd to me too. In '45 I just cant see the Germans bothering to stamp a waff on a captured piece. That is if the rifle made it into any combat during the war. Could have been made post war aswell....

This thread seems to be answering itself!

There is sure a lot of variation out there and gobs of history as well.

What I'm sure a lot of Ukrainian Canadians would like to see would be a whack of the Cossack rifles: same general description as a 91/30 but octagonal receiver and KA3 serial prefix. Wonder if any numbers still exist, or if they all bit the dust at Tannenberg and Bolimow and Przemysl.....

I thought about purchasing that rifle but passed wondering the same. Still... if its real:cool:

I ended up buying it and it seems authentic because of the circumstances Marstar bought it under. They didn't pay any premium on them - they were just mixed in with thousands of others. There would have been no motive to fake them. I will post detailed pics here for everyone to decide for themselves.

Yes take lots of pics, beneath the wood as well. Mag, floorplate, spring, trigger, tang etc. Russian marks and stamps as well as Waffen Amt marks.

Thanks, looking forward to the pics.

I bought one from trade-ex for 189, the bore looks good, says they r good condition but can barely hit paper at 100m iron sites.. So is it maybe cuz I have the bayonet fixed? I heard that's how they were sited and most accuracte

I just purchased one of the Hex. receiver M91/30's from Tradex. It's a nice looking rifle in great condition with a fine looking bore. Only 20 rds of cast through her so far but I also think she's a "shooter". No load developement just what I used to shoot in my M39.
Gun shoots low with the cast load which is a good thing. 500 setting put me right on POA at 50yds. Last 3 were touching!!
