Hey Folks,
I have a stock that I want to do some custom work on. What I'm looking for is a Molding compound or a Putty sort of Idea that can be used to fill cracks and shape certain things, like a custom pistol grip conformed to my hand for example. I Don't care what colour it is, the stock will be painted; or what it's made out of (wood, white glue, epoxy, plastic etc..). It would be nice if it was Sandable!

Any suggestions would be appreciated!

Bondo should work pretty well. It is relatively inexpensive, it sets fast enough to avoid slump, slow enough to mould and sculpt, bonds well to a properly prepared surface and takes paint well.
 
Thanks guys for your Replies. Sunray, Bedding Compound sounds expencive :D It's like saying "Mercedes-Benz" instead of "Car". Of the top of your head can you think of somthing cheap that fits the "bedding Compound" bill? (No Pun intended).

Thanks Smoji, that sounds pretty good. I'll look into it! The "properly prepared Surface" is just sanded wood. Have you ever used it before?

Bedding compound is just two part epoxy like auto-body filler. The only difference is the fibreglass powder and the colouring agent. Body filler will do nicely. Runs about $15 in Crappy Tire.
"...just sanded wood..." Yep. The filler needs a way of sticking to the wood. The wee holes in sanded wood will work.
 
Epoxy with cement provides extremely hard and rugged molds in dull grey colour, but on wood I personally would have used the same wooden dust with epoxy.
 
Awesome Guys, Thanks. I'll be Buying my Self a thing of Bondo ASAP. I'm hoping to finnish this project sooner Rather than Later and I'll Post the Pics when I do. I Just secured a Rental House with a Garage so I'm pretty Stoked about that. Firearms and Motorcycle Projects will be Abound :D
