Moltrie D40 trail cam issues

Hopefully someone has run into this problem before and can help...

I have a Moultrie D40 camera just like this one -> w ww.moultriefeeders.com/game-spy-d40

I set it up with a new set of copper tops and left it at a stand (display says 95% battery).

I've been back to check it a few times and each time the camera appears to have gone to sleep or turned off.

It won't take a picture of me when I come back to check it, so I turn it on again, wait and it takes my picture. I switch the card and come back a few weeks later - no pics and the unit is asleep/off again.

I set up 2 cameras just like this one at the same time for a couple of guys in the camp and theirs are both working fine.

I tried it at home before I set it up and it seemed to be working fine.

Anyone have any ideas?

did you deleat the memory in the camera before you put the card in?i know with mine i have to do this

Software update needed?

Erase internal memory before installing SD card?

Look around the chasinggame.com, and Moultrie websites, there might be some answers there for you.

i just got a new 5.0 infared moultrie and started cursing it after using it the first time. kept turning off by itself...

it turns out that duracell D batteries are LONGER than other brands. this causes the flap that goes over the batteries to bow out just enough to break contact and turn off the camera. 2 of the duracell D batteries stacked on another are around 1/8" or 3/16" longer than a cheap brand of batteries i had around the house.
