So, there's lost of discussion about moly/danzac (WS2) coated bullets on the Internet, and a lot of conflicting information out there. Basically, you can read though all the arguments for or against, and still be left with basically nothing. Bottom line is you pretty much have to try-it-and-see.

So I've decided to start coating my bullets. I bought a pound of Tungsten Disulfide powder (aka 'danzac' - similar to moly). Has anyone here used moly or WS2 bullets? What methods hove you tried to plate the bullets? Any success or horror stories?

I have been using moly for a few years. I run them in the tumbler in corn cob for about 20 minutes. The in the steel shot and moly for about 2 hours. Roll them in an old towel when done. The small container of moly that came with the kit, about 4 oz? Has done about 10,000 bullets so far and I still have over 3/4 of the container left. I only use the tip of a screwdriver as a scoop for each batch. Sometime even 2-3 batches without adding any. I run about 200-250 bullets at a time.
A friend uses Danzac. He dips his bullets on Iosso cleaner then 20 minutes in the tumbler with bullets and Danzac only, no steel shot.
The trick is to get the bullets clean before starting.

Last time I cleaned was after 900 rounds. I should have left it alone. The rifle was shooting better then 1/2 MOA, then went to about 1 MOA after cleaning and took about 200 rounds to get it back like it was. I keep the chamber clean but don't touch the barrel.
I am having a new barrel put on now. I changes stocks and the rifle would not make the weight for TR. The barrel still has lot of life in it after 4000+ round. I will shoot the new barrel with moly bullets until they don't fit down the barrel. I think cleaning is over-rated.

Hmmm, that sounds good. My Hornet needs cleaning every 30-40 non-moly'd rounds, or accuracy really suffers, so I'm looking forward to not having to clean as often.

My barrels are SS match barrels. If your Hornet has a rough barrel, moly may not help, but you never know until you try. You might try fire lapping it to smooth it out some, then try moly.

I don't really think it's a rough barrel - Shooter's choice never comes out blue, so it's not copper fouling - just carbon.

A pound!

Never used Danzac, but a pound of moly would be enough to do several hundred thousand rifle bullets.

I have never had a moment of trouble using moly, and have used it on everything from 224s in my 223 to cast 405 gr for my 45-70.

The smallest quantity I could purchase was a pound. Was only $45 ;)

I'm hoping it works on cast as well as jacketed - leading is nasty
