With my hopes of a Valmet long given up, I thought I'd share the Valmet I do have. The old man had to do his compulsory service in Finland before immigrating back in the late 70's and completed his one year with their marines. He obviously helped himself to a little souvenir... From my understanding these are not a home-grown design for the Finns, but were domestically produced off a US design... (Sedgley). Now if only I could find some more czech 26.5mm paraflares, as my father forgot his stash of finnish flares in a house we moved out of some 30 years ago!
Funny, I remember him telling a story about another conscript in his battalion hurling a RPG-7 and a satchel full of training rockets into the ditch near his hometown as they were towing their 120mm mortars with tractors to another training area. Never found out if the ballsy young man retrieved them later. I wish the old man would have thought of that, but something tells me he would have had a more difficult time getting that into Canada! Anyway, definitely not for sale, but if anyone has a line on some paraflares to donate to the cause, I'd be happy to pay good money...
