I am looking at both these scopes trying to figure out which one is a better all around scope. I am looking at the Monarch 2-8x32 and the Viper 2-7x32. Any opinions or advice would be appriciated.

Thanx
Marc

Im a new Vortex Viper owner, 6.5-20x44 and am very impressed with this scope. Great glass, solid built and the same warranty that "Leupold " offers with a price tag at half.
Nikon are great but lack in the warranty depot.

Cheers!!

The Viper only goes to 10. The Monarch goes to 11.

Apparently this is the method for choosing amplifiers, so I figured scope magnification was similar :p

I've heard a lot of good things about the Monarch scopes. I don't really know anything about the Vipers scopes.

Viper Optics, according to the Factorie's Website only offer a 3 year warranty. Not sure what the North American distributors are offering? Reviews seem to be good, although they have not been available long enough to make a satisfactory judgement? They offer a lot of different lines and a lot of modern options, SF, FFP, etched reticles, 30mm tubes, IR, etc. If they work out as good as some of the reveiws then they should be a decent scope fore the buck. Similar to Falcon scopes.

I think you need to take a peek at the Vortex website ;)

The warranty is good for life not only 3 years and is transferable and no warranty cards need to be filled. They have the best warranty in the business, same as Leupold.

Hey Scott, I did mention that the Factory (manufacturer) only offers 3 Yrs. The link you have supplied is a US Distibutor. I would wonder two things;
a) first they say "no matter the cause" and then follow with "Verify what repair work is covered under warranty". b) do you know what's involved with sending a scope to the US even for warranty work? It's very difficult in most cases. So with that being said how good is the warranty without a Canadian Repair Depot? Perhaps that's why the Manufacturer only offers 3 years?
Food for thought.
Cheers
PS I have had excellent service from Nikon, this was the address last time I had a problem with a second hand scope, no warranty card.

Vortex has a Canadian depot, not sure off hand the number but a phone call could find that out. I have a pair of Vortex binos that I sent for repair and spoke with the Vortex sales and they told me that my optics have a lifetime warranty and can be sent to the Canadian or US depot.
If you read on a number of US sites Doug at Cameraland was sending out Vortex scopes for people to try and an overwelming response was they tough scopes and most commented they were better then Bushnell Elite 4200's
Nikon scopes are great as well, not knocking them but this new company called Vortex is going to be big pretty soon.

Cheers!!

I talked to the Vortex people before I bought as well, as I was leary of the same warranty being valid in Canada. Same answer, lifetime Canadian warranty. Their Canadian phone number and email is on the "contact us" page of their website.

Any idea on the percentage of scopes that ever require warranty work? I have some of almost every brand and have never had a problem. If I liked a scope and the price was right, personally I never think about the warranty. FS

Just Picked up a Viper 2x7. Haven't shot with it yet, but so far looks like very good quality. Nice clear bright optic and good eye relief. The lever used to zoom in and out is a great idea and very user friendly. It also has turrets that can be adjusted with your fingers so you dont have to use a dime or what ever, and they are very clearly marked(unlike my elite 3200 where both turrets said up or down???). They also came with a decent set of see through scope covers.

Rather then going on hear say I emailed Vortex and asked them about warranty for scopes purchased in Canada.

Hello,
Thank you for writing.
The Vortex rifle scopes have a lifetime, no-fault warranty.
We will look after warranty issues from our location here in Guelph, Ontario.
Please let us know if you have any other questions.

Fassteel, I have no idea of the percentages. I liked what I researched, and liked what I heard from people that use their stuff, and the price was right. I figured if they stood behind their warranty it was worth a shot. So far I'm very happy and have no complaints. IMHO it is an excellent scope.

Vortex Optics are distributed here in Canada by Vortex Optics Canada in Guelph and they handle all warranty claims there. I do not know exact percentages, but warranty issues have been very low so far. I have several of their scopes and I have sold a few on line here, and so far I have not had a single issue with them. In the past I have been a fan of the Bushnell Elite series and the Burris scopes, I have found that the Vortex products offer very similar quality and quite often better quality for a little less cash. They seem to have a scope to cover MOST needs, from a red dot (also green) to the high magnification target scopes, you will find something to fit your needs in all their price levels. Contact me if you need more info!
