Gee, I never considered a monkey round. I guess that first you would need to look into legality of actually hunting them, then look into what to use. Is anyone going to eat the meat....seriously? I'd guess that a 20 gauge shotgun, with #2 or # 4 lead shot, in 3" loads, would work well. Keep us posted

I think one of the keys of indigenous vs non-indigenous is whether something arrived via it's own to a place.
My designated baboon round is a 22-284 using 80-90 gn bullets approaching 4000 fps. Good BC for the African breezes and distances that baboons are normally encountered. Rifle is a Guntech trued 700 short action with a 30" SS barrel mounted and chambered by yours truly, in a 700 varmint thumbhole laminated stock. Optics are undecided at this point but will be likely either a Nikon 8-32 that I have or a Leup 6.5-20 with target knobs, the Nikon also has target knobs.
Apparently the baboons are destroying the small trees in a nursery owned by a gentleman in SA and are an ongoing problem. I have heard about it from a PH that I hunted with in the Congo. He said he would set this up anytime I wanted to come.....no cost at all but airfare and ammo. Apparently the landowner will even supply a vehicle and fuel (there was also talk of a small house to stay in while there and a cook) as well as trackers/fetchers and there is no limit........don't see a downside anywhere in this program. Add a week to a hunt for a couple tiny ten candidates and make it all a blast.

Bingo. Nature is beautiful, and harsh, for many not accustomed to it that's a shock.
Some of the big old dogs (males) would have to push 100 lbs.......that's a guess but I've never weighed one. Just seen lots and lots and that would be my guesstimate......the average female probably 35 lbs and avg male probably 60-70 Lbs.
