MONSTER 600 LB Black Bear

WOW! Sweet vid too!

I'm not a bow hunter... but does the arrow normally go right through, and sit there on the ground after? I would have thought it'd be buried up to the nock, but not through and through!

Very cool... definately the biggest blackie I've seen!

Not all the time. A good thing about the arrow burried to the nock is the arrowhead is cutting/slicing organs as the animal runs away.

I have had this happen on an elk.....arrow deflected on entry a bit, took out one lung and continued working into the other as the bull ran a few metres before I stopped him with a cow chirp. he then sauntered off a little further and was down.

monster black bear deffense thread in 3.2.1....
nice bear and one hell ova lot of work once it hits the ground ,but worth the sore back the next day

Was talking to a guy this morning that claims he saw a 'giant' bear. Says he lived on the Island and knows what huge bears look like, etc... So pulled up this (old) thread to show him this bear for comparison.
He figures the bear he saw was pretty close to the bear pictured in this thread. Anyway, that's why I dragged this up.

Pretty impressive, I've seen one truly big black bear in my life, and countless "normal" ones (about a dozen a day at present!). The big guy stood out in every way, tall, wide head, slow saunter, thick. Looked a lot like this guy, they take on a different look when they get truly big. There are a lot of small guys for every brute like that...

Where do you think the arrow passed through to kill him that fast? Only 75 meters, and bears run pretty fast so it didnt take long for him to drop, must have hit a pretty serious organ or directly in the heart. Maybe a hunter can chime in as I am not one and do not know?

Doesn't mean to rain the parade.....but what a waste of beautiful animal. I don't feel so proud as a human now after watching the video.

No animal lives forever, (well, except for certain species of jelly-fish, but that's a different topic). Frankly I think this is a more fitting end for such a magnificent beast, rather than dying of age or disease and becoming carrion.

But that's just my opinion, and I'm a sucker for the poetry of epic showdowns of great beasts and great men.

This is the hunting section of CGN if you don't like it please leave to one of the many other sections of the board. This section is for hunters and hunting related topics, period.

I wont ruin this post with my comments, if I want to start something I will take it to off topic section.

This is the hunting section, for hunters period. If you don't like hunting or like to make anti hunting comments including anti trophy hunting take it to Off Topic. CGN mods have discussed this extensively in the past and any more of it here will result in infractions, get it?
