here's some pics of the last two 3 day trips chasing B.C.'s "Ghosts of the Coast". These deer were taken with 180 gr winnie power points and 2 custom lee enfield's fresh off my bench. The one rifle in West Coast Tiger OD/Black is a customers rifle he wanted me to test fire after all the work was done.... so i asked him if i could take her on my first deer trip of the year. he obliged .... and the pics speak for themselves. Second rifle is my own personal enfield in Ghost Cedar camo, taking the largest blacktail I've ever seen...... again, the pics speak for themselves..... that buck stretched across the back of my 92 jeep yj is a freakin MONSTER hehehe

enjoy guys.

Hey M14,

Nice couple of bucks! Curios as to your location. That second buck looks like a MD/BT cross. He has way more white on his throat and chest then any Blacktail I have seen. You can run into BT/MD crosses all through the Lilooet River valley and down through Silver Creek / Hope area.

Just wondering. Feel free to PM if you are secretive about your area.

Congrats.

:D :D , you are correct on all counts my friend. Both deer are in fact hybrids, with deer number 2 exhibiting mostly mule deer traits, almost no black in the tail.... and the typical forked antlers found on blackie/mule hybrids.... which is the telltale of a hybrid for the deer in the area i'm hunting..... which will remain secret hehehe
I did get a big racked pure blacktail last season in the same spot but the bodies on these two deer pictured are the biggest i've seen where i hunt.

We used to hunt a big burn in the Lillooet valley, on one trip we got 2 mature bucks - mine was a very nice three point BT, probably 4 or 5 y/o, my buddy took a young BT/MD cross, likely 2 or 3 y/o, and he was half again as heavy as mine.

Mind you, I took 2 bucks over the years on the far west coast (mainland) that were not crosses, that both weighed over 160lbs of meat and bones - no hide, no head, no guts. Those were very big BT's.

Love the tie down job on the Jeep. 10 points for creativity. Great photos.

i do have a hitch basket but left it on the trailer back in camp, so we just lashed the buck to the back  . I have a modified military trailer on 31' tires i tow with my jeep..... awesome rig and no need for a pick up hehehe
