Monster moose taken in NB!

For those who conjectured that the slug should have "knocked" the moose down, you haven't shot a lot of moose. Nothing fired from the shoulder "knocks" a moose down unless you hit the spine or it breaks both shoulders. Most moose shot through the ribs with anything decent just stand there for a few seconds while the fact that they are dead sinks into that ample skull of theirs. Then they go to take a step and just keel over.

+1. And nice moose, btw. Looks delicious. :D

At what point in the mooses death did the Accubonds fails?? :) :)

Congratulations on a successful moose hunt thats a trophy in my books, not many things taste better than a young bull moose.

For the record. I never said that the Accubonds failed. What I was SURPRISED by, was the fact that the Accubonds shed that much weight and also that they did not completely penetrate the moose after going through the lungs. Having spent all of the energy in the animal, the bullet was found on the far side hide. That is, I think, what most people consider "perfect" bullet performance.

Congrats Paul

That is one nice moose after 20 years of waiting!!:runaway:

Well done!

Of course, we all know that if you had been using The King, the moose would have been knocked over with one shot, the bullet penetrated both sides and possibly still orbiting planet earth rigth now.;)

Nice SC

good job SC, now move to BC and hunt moose like that for 2 months straight every year :)
Not likely, he already knows that AB is better.:)

Glad you got your moose, Paul. Funny, all that anticipation for 12 minutes.:)

What's next? WT? I'm going for black bear this weekend......:D

Congrats yet again on the moose.....

From Noslers marketing campaign, I believed that the Accubond was supposed to be a 80% weight retention type bullet.

Bah. Its still a lead based bullet. It did not separate from the jacket, and downed its target. I'd bet that the result would have been the same with any other reasonable caliber, using any other "premium" bullet, and likely most cup'n'core bullets as well.

Now I see why they make you wait 20 years for a draw. If they gave out tags to everyone with 12 minutes to spare, there'd be no moose left. :D

:D:D

No kidding. I have never been on a 12 minute moose hunt!

Altjhough last year, we spotted them within about 12 minuts. Took a few more hours to close the deal, though!

Congratulations on the moose. :D

I'm sure you'll be savouring that one for a long time (especially if you do it up in pepperoni, jerky and juicy moose steaks ;) )
