Monster moose taken in NB!

I have the Mini skinner and like the design a lot the steel is a bit harder to get a good edge than some but still do-able . It's great when you need a small knife.
Good for feminine hands like mine, maybe not so good for pickle fingers.

I think I will pick up one of the classic Russel styles too.

Congrats...How do you like that Kawi 360...I have one and just love it...
That's actually a 2000 300cc KVF 2WD. It has been the most dependable pc of machinery I've ever owned, handles/rides great, always starts, has great brakes and goes many places a 2wd shouldn't. I'll buy another Kawasaki after this one.

Thanks for your responce...I'd put up a pic of my moose from this year but this site is not letting me do it...Keeps coming up a red X..It's on the Nosler forum, killed him with a 150gr E Tip and my 300 Win on Sept 19..

You have to host it at a site like photobucket.com...and then post the link...

Think it's time you took a little break from CGN.

MadDog, I think that gitrdun did need a break from CGN, but it is obvious that you do not always give everyone the same needed break. Here is post from a friend of yours who also need a break.

(paste)I am not sure why this garbage is here again. I had to stop watching the topic when it was in OT, since it causes me so much grief to read this stuff.

OK we got a wannabe cop and a couple other guys here with a bee in their friggin' bonnets about some guys that may or may not have committed offences and with whom the JUSTICE SYSTEM OF OUR COUNTRY is dealing or has dealt. If you f**king oxygen thieves don't understand that chucking s**t at fellow gun owners is a bad idea, that just confirms my opinion that not all trash is picked up by the garbage collection people.

OK you can have whatever f**king opinions you want about poaching, thieving, prostitution, terrorism, drug smuggling, I don't care, keep them to your f**king selves.

But for f**k's sake let's stop pointing f**king fingers at FELLOW GUN OWNERS. How's this? I think the guys pointing fingers are a lot lower on the food chain, down there with whale s**t, than the guys who allegedly committed the alleged offences. Those guys are dealing with the justice system. The f**king finger pointers, those sanctimonious Holier-than-thou cretins, are the ones that need to be BANNED from this forum for making us gun owners look bad.

And if you can't understand that, I can put the message in one syllable words for you and type real slow so you can read and understand.

Joe it is time not to LOCK this f**king drivel, but to delete it. What person in their right mind gives their enemy ammo and a gun to shoot them with?

f**king pinheads. You all make me want to puke.

Doug

I would have, but last time he used his powers of delete instead of dealing with an ####### who was just as offensive as gitrdun.

Wow. I just read some of this thread. *shakes head* I'm happy for you Paul.
Thanks ....... Tonight we chowed on some moosey prime rib steaks off the Q with a caesar salad. Anne made a cranberry/orange crumble cake for desert. I'm just here finishing a big mug of strong, black tea.

Life IS good sometimes, and I do have alot to be thankful for. :)

My buddy shot a calf one time (it was bigger than 77 pounds though) and it had that pink veal type of meat. By far the tastiest thing I've ever eaten. Better than elk, better than beef veal, you name it. Makes me wonder what a little calf elk would taste like. mmmmmmmmm:D

So what do you hope to accomplish posting this on a moose hunting thread?

Do you think we will all jump up and join your cause?

Do you want us to post stuff like "Covey Ridge cut and pasted a quote from some other thread somewhere, no link supplied, no context supplied, no date supplied, totally unrelated to this moose hunting thread...Hey, maybe we should join with him on a personal agenda to ##### about Mad Dog-one of the most lenient, laid back mods on CGN?"

Not likely. :slap:

Use the PM system or at the very least keep your comments out of this thread and start yor own thread about what a poor job Mad Dog does, so we can ridicule you.

Congrats, twenty years is a long time, But that'll be a tasty piece of meat.

Only 17 more to go before I get one of the Cape Breton tags I guess.

You got that right we do have a lot to be thankful for. Did you find that moose of yours to be more tender than normal? How about taste ? A guy has to wonder if a moose taken in the east taste different than one taken in the west? Different browse, etc. Somehow I bet if you took some of that moose and made jerky you would have some great chewing.

Oh well I guess I'm just envious, sure glad you got your moose.

The only western moose I've tried was from the Yukon. I found it to be a bit stronger in flavour than the moose here. Maybe the willows as there are none here. At first I thought it was just me, but have heard the same comment from others.

I didn't get to make any jerky. The day it was cut up I was to go there to help the guys cut some other moose as well. They had mine done before I got there to direct the cutting. No big deal either way. :)

Good bull SuperCub!

I admire your patience! ( The 20 years part, not the 12 minutes :) )

As a noob to the board these are the threads I love to read.

I haven't gotten into moose hunting in Ontario yet but I have taken a lot of white tail and it usually isnt hard to tell where they were shot by the taste.
Forty miles and you move from heavy ag ( corn, alfalfa, clover, beans) to Canadian Shield ( rock, sumac and anything their teeth can grind ) :)

I bet your boy is delicious!

Congrats! You have earned it.

My invitation was lost in the mail I presume??? :slap:
And just because I laughed at your 788 :D

I helped cut up 12 moose today at the butcher's place. We took in a calf moose today that only weighed 77lbs on the hook. It's the smallest moose I've ever seen cut up, but late on the last day I'm not sure I would pass on it either.

.

Congrats on the moose SuperCub! I'm jealous!:)

Man alive. 12 moose cut in a day! That's flying! How many on the cutting crew? Couple of you cutting while more wrap?

That guy that shot the 77 pound moose should have led it a bit more an he'd have shot the cow!:D Calves is better than an empty freezer by a far cry though!

I gotta shake my head now and again to realize how lucky I am living out west. The number of tags that I can buy over the counter, and the ease I can get drawn, is truly astonishing when compared to the time it took you to get a moose tag.

Again. Congrats!

Cheers
Trev
(who has 3 un-filled tags on the wall from years past, and has yet to see a moose while hunting for them!)
