Hi there, I'd like to find out who's interested in these rifles? Do you own one? Have you owned one or know anyone who has? I'm looking for an overall 'interest level' as well as any feedback on the rifles & company. Once again, these are rifles made by Montana Rifle Company out of Kalispell, Montana. I appreciate any feedback you can offer. (I have to think there's something worth looking at in a 'dangerous game rifle in many calibers at around $1300!)Thanks in advance for your insight.

If you want responses from guys with hands-on experience, you'd be better off asking on an American forum. There likely isn't enough of them in Canada to amount to much of a concensus...

Try shootersforum.com, 24hourcampfire.com, or the firingline.com

And if you want to get told that what you really want is a CZ from AHR, try Accuratereloading.com

I've been looking at the MRC, particularly the actions, for years now. I've lusted after their PH action since it was first talked about years ago. I've always wanted a 505 Gibbs and that would be a perfect action to use. Sure, you could buy one in a CZ but there's nothing like dreaming about building a rifle.

There was talk in the past that the actions weren't finished externally as nicely as some people would like, but I think that anyone expecting to buy an action and just slap a rifle together without doing any finishing work is dreaming in Technicolor. I think that Bits of Pieces was bringing the actions in but I don't know if that's still the case.

Thanks, I appreciate your info. Their dangerous game rifle looks pretty nice and rumor has it they'll shoot inside an inch with .505, .458, etc That's impressive. Priced very well to compared to others in those calibers.

A couple friends of mine and I have purchased a few over the years. Rick at ATR put a couple together for yet another friend. They are good solid actions, bit of a cross between a 98 and a 70 (and that's not a bad thing). I would buy them without hesitation should they suit my needs. - dan

"...rumor has it..." No 'rumors' in Canada. Just rumours.
No company can guarrantee accuracy. Even the ones that do.

The one action I saw had a spring-loaded tenon to keep the action from binding while cycling. I thought it looked kind of cheesy. They're cast, too, which means nothing if it's done well. I think there are better options for less money, but that's only my opinion.

I've got one in .300 Win, put together by Bits of Pieces. Judging by that one example of their work I wouldn't take a dog there to be shot.

The action itself is on the rough side, but did smooth up with time.

I'm being corrected because "Spelling and grammar count" Thanks, as I feel honoured to be critiqued by a literary genius. By the way, being the scholar you clearly are - you seemed to have missed the fact that I did not claim that there was an 'accuracy guarantee'. Hense me writing 'rumOR has it'. For all others that have been kind enough to share their experience and knowledge - Thank You. It is appreciated. Gosh I hope there are no 'errors' in this message....
PS: thanks to sunray for clouding this thread with non relevant 'corrections'. Your Canadian 'sovereignty' is so much appreciated. Keep up the good work. Passez une bonne journee
