Hey guys, I'm thinking on selling my 2 Sako 85's and buying either a 35 Whelen or a 375 H&H in the configuration shown below. I would consider doing a custom on a Model 70 action, but finding a good smith and getting all the parts I want is the challenge. So I thought I'd just buy one from MRC, but I wanted to know if there worth it or not. I'd like a smooth action, MOA, nice fit & finish rifle. Is MRC the one? Any input would be appreciated. Cheers! Scott

I've only had experience with two, Mine In .300 Win, and my shooting partner's
in 300 WSM. Changed everything but the serial number on mine and
Frankly wish I'd never seen the damn thing. Turned into a bit of a money pit to end up at OK.
My friends was over headspace from the beginning, (so was mine) and although that was fixed by setting the barrel back
one turn it still won't take anything but powder puff loads. Shoots ok at 2600 fps, but that is hard to get excited about. Too bad, the idea of basicly a stainless M70 had a lot of appeal.

Surely they can't all be bad, but I'm done. These aren't 500 dollar rifles.

Thanks Dogleg/Omenator for your replies and Dogleg for your experiences. I did find the post by BwanaDave regarding his V2. Looks promising but if I ended up with issues like Dogleg and his buddy I would be very upset. I was considering a Nosler 48 outfitter but I really want the CRF action. Don't know why , but I "feel" that it will better suited to this type of rifle. I know Clay from Prophet River is the dealer, maybe I'll call him and ask if they've gotten there quality under control. Thanks again fellas!

In the height of Irony, the same friend has a
Nosler 48 In 26 Nosler. Shoots 4 inch groups with factory ammo, slightly better with handloads. Tried a couple scopes, a Nightforce and the second a zeiss if I Remember right. This guy thinks head shooting my IPSC targets at 800
Is a good time. Dealer is Stalling him and when he took his story and targets to the Nosler
Booth at SCI he got a brush off. There's no Warranty centre in
Canada.

I was having a lot fun bugging him
That he should have just bought an vanguard, which it basically is, got the same
Accuracy warranty For a fraction of the cost and a warranty centre in Canada.

Fun as it is to bug him, I don't really want to
Be around when he finally snaps, let alone partially responsible. :) 'course,
as long as he tried shooting me with the 48 he'd likely miss. ;)

Thanks again for your personal experience Dogleg, well I guess my "off the shelf" semi custom selections are not all that great after all. Which is why I appreciate this forum and its members. What I can't figure out, is when a guy shells out that kind of money for what should be a fantastic rifle, these companies are sending out junk. You'd think they would be little tighter/better on quality control, than say a more mass produced gun like remmy's, mossberg, etc. Maybe I will have to re-visit the custom route again.
