I have a S&W 625 in 45 ACP and Ruger GP100 in 10mm both of them I use with moon clips, I currently use these for holding my moon clips and it works for me.

I spotted this one that I would like to try but it is no longer being made, does anyone know of one like this that is available?

I have spotted other moon clip holders but they are not approved for IDPA.

Take a look at Speed Beez. They have some good ones and they ship to Canada.

Thanks, I took a look at them and they are not approved for use in IDPA.

Thanks, I have some of their moon clips for my Ruger GP100 in 10mm and they work great but when I looked at their moon clip holders they are not approved for use in IDPA.

If I can't find any IDPA approved ones I might give one of these a try and see if I can modify it to be okay in IDPA.

Why aren't they approved? Perhaps an update to outdated rules is in order. - dan

Here is what the IDPA rule book states Moon clip carriers must either be of open top configuration, and must retain the moon clip by tension and a stud that protrudes through the center of the clip, or retains the moon clip with a snap or Velcro closure.
This is from the current rule book, it would be good if they would allow more options than the currently do.
I have contacted Tim at Solely Canadian and sent him the picture of the discontinued one and he thinks that he could make one, hopefully he will be able to do it for me.

I use the TK Customs moon clip holders in IDPA with my 625. Have been for years.

They meet the above attribute.

Unfortunately you have to also look at rule 8.6.3.3 which states Moon clips may not be retained in the carrier by 3 or less cartridge.

That’s why to be IDPA compliant, the moon clip holder has to have the piece in the front as well. If you buy one that doesn’t have the front piece, I’m sure you could jerry rig something with a piece of kydex.

It’s a shame IDPA rules don’t really make much sense. It’s not like that extra material on the moon clip holder doesn’t provide any additional concealment compared to an open front.
