Moosberg 715, anyone have any comments?

I also had another couple questions, so please be patient, i am new to these "AR" style firearms.... First off, I read allot of you guys doing 1" at 50 and some 100 yards, is this with stock sights or scopes? Secondly, I would like to get a vertical fore grip, any recommendations? Thirdly, should i go scope or red dot, and any recommendations for those? Last but not least from what i read so far CCI mini mag seems to shoot well with this 715t, any comments on that as they are very affordable...

Thanks to all for such great help and info!

I use the iron sights that came with it... note the rear sight can flip two ways. One has a larger opening than the other. The large one will not give you the best groupings but is better for quick acquisition. I find that I use the smaller aperture for all shooting however. I don't see the need for spending money on optics for a fun gun... I save that for my serious rifles. This thing plinks metal targets etc just fine at any distance I can see at, what more could you want?
As to the mag, the issue is that sometimes the red follower will jamb at 10 rounds. Just pull the lower spring down by the plastic button provided in the side of the mag to take tension off of it and it will continue to feed the rounds down into the mag. To make mag removal easier after last shot, pull the bolt open further and PUSH the operating handle into the gun to lock bolt fully open. This takes the pressure off of the mag and allows it to be removed very easily once the release lever is pressed.
As per the plinkster, this gun digests any rounds including the cheap-o ones. I have yet to have a failure and I have used 1000 rounds of Federal and 525 rounds of Blazer.... I do however use full power rounds in all my semi's.

As to teardown, well I only have just over 1500 rounds through it so far, but other than a swab through the barrel, I have yet to do a teardown clean... it just doesn't need it. Maybe after 3-4000 rounds? I'm not going to pull it apart until it jambs the first time.

As always, YMMV

Here are 2 pics of the mag....

what do you think?

That's pretty much how the magazine fits on all of them that I've seen. It hasn't been an issue on mine. BTW, look at a Magpul Angled Fore Grip before you buy a vertical fore grip. I think you'll like it better.

Ok, thanks just wanted to make sure about the mag as i have read so much about it... I will try and get to the shooting gallery in the next week or so for a trial run...

I shall check out that Magpul grip, thanks...

I've got a Magpul RVG foregrip and CTR stock on mine.

...Been shooting just fine with the stock sights but, the GF got me some Magpul BUIS and a holographic sight for xmas so those will be going on in short order.

I do not think there would be so many choices for a grip..
Guess i will have a trial and error... mind you i have big hands... wondering if there are any grips for big handed people... :)

Haha, love that pic....

I was looking at UTG, but was not sure about the quality, but then i figure, a grip is a grip is a grip......

I shall give it a go....

:)

Shot my buddies out of the box today, had about 150 shots and the gun jammed. Got it un jammed to find the firing pin broke in half!! Any ideas on where to get a replacement?

Is the buffer tube able to accept an aftermarket stock other than the one it comes with? Specifically the Magpul CTR
