After 6 mornings of not seeing a bull we got lucky on the seventh day. We could not get closer than 328 yards. (Leica Range Finder).
Using a 7mm - 08 that was sighted for 300 yards with 154 grain Hornady bullets my first shot was through the lungs and he didn't take a step... just stood there planting his feet farther apart trying to stay up. My second shot was just behind his head and dropped him cold.
Then using the truck and a snatch block on a stump and 1000 feet of rope we pulled him uphill across stumps and logs. It was kind of funny as some hunters from the US showed up with a guide and they couldn't believe we had enough rope to do that. (We can reach out to about 500 yards and I wouldn't take a shot that far anyway).
He appears to be about a 3 or 4 year old bull in prime condition... Very little meat lost and 3 happy hunters are home with the meat hanging in the locker ...
