Moose at 328 yards & 7mm - 08 & picture

Not ripping at all on road hunting, hunting is hunting and if it legal by all means go for it.

I would love to get a chance at a moose like that, well or any moose for that matter, never had the chance to hunt them or eat them, I hear good things.

I see you've done this before Dennis and know the benefits of bringing a small light ladder ;) Nice bull - congrads..

I took an 18 foot aluminum ladder and cut it into 3 six foot sections and made inserts so the sections go back together so we can get up a tree about 18 feet if we have to... and in sections it fits in the truck or trailer easily.

We cut off (just past the second rib from the rear) the front quarters and wrap them in cheese cloth to keep flies off and wrap the rear quarters as well and hang them all to cool well. Two of us can handle a skinned quarter.

Nice moose and great shot. Did you find the reticle very helpful? Gatehouse said it all, mine was 200yds uphill from a old logging road last year.
I still find it funny that people are shocked at how well 'small' cartridges like the 7mm-08, .260, and even the .303 perform on big animals like moose and elk. The yardage at which Mr. Sorensen used this apt cartridge isn't extreme considering the fact that the bullet being used would penetrate, expand and make a hole in necessary organs.
We used a chainsaw for a while but I have recently found that the reciprocating saw and a demolition blade makes less mess. MMMMMMmmmmmmmmmmm..........Moose Stroganoff.

Thats good shooten.
I have a 7mm08 and I was wondering if I should go with the 140 gr or 120 gr for deer?
The 158 gr load sounds great for moose, what kind of gun did you use?

Did the US moose hunters use land cannons, like 300 Win Mag and 375 H&H's.

Albayo. I've used 140gr, both handloaded and factory, on whitetails with great success.
