Coming from the fellah that states " Life begins at 40.Recoil begins at"over 40". Coincidence? I dont think so." Hmmm Thats just CRAZY
Not that crazy, in both cases its where things start getting interesting.😂
When you pull the trigger on something that is equal to 4 or 5 30-06s or 2 375s going off at the same time it gives you some perspective. Oh sure; you might want to remember that actually holding onto it is a good idea; but right after that you notice that it didn’t kill you, bruise you or knock you flat and stomp you. It’s a regular riot, not some kind of near death experience.😂

Many moons ago I fired two Federal Premium 3 1/2" slugs out of a 10 guage SXS. It had two triggers so I pulled both at the same time. The slugs are 1 3/4 ounce each, so 3 1/2 ounces of lead was interesting. If youve never been whacked from a gun in one way or another, vou need to shoot more and try different calibers. The 460 Weatherby made me take notice

It more often goes the other way... those fearful of recoil, mock the choices of others who aren't.
Yup that’s what got this going. Shoot what you want just don’t put down others for their choices. I’ve only shot maybe 25-30 deer, used everything from the .270 up. Mostly 300 win, 300 wby and by far the most my .338. I don’t consider those to be big guns at all and shoot them with light holds from field positions. Everyone has different tolerances, depends what you are use to.

Ok messed that up, moose bear thread. Shot them with really big guns and .30 mags. Not a whole lot of difference. That’s with heart/lung shots.

2 stainless 338 m70 classics both modded get the nod for bear/moose/elk…they just work. The 300 or 7 for higher elevation and open stuff.

I've used 30-30 and 308 for moose for 4 decades. Hell I smoked a black bear with 350 Legend last year. No problem.
Grizzly is a different story.

yeh what is a 35 magnum? the whelen screams moose an bear..... ?
The 35 Whelen is indeed a fine cartridge for all big game in North America as well all your country. However, the 358 Norma Magnum is several points ahead.

I have used both, and the only real negative about the magnum is that the factory rifles are built too light. Consequently, most do not shoot it well because of the recoil.

The .350 Rem Mag is a terrific bear cartridge... ANY bear... and it is a pussycat to shoot, even with stuffed brass under a 250 Partition. Hands down, my favorite bear cartridge... works exactly like most of the others.
