Moose defense thread:Alaska

Last year while lost in the woods in Deer season I happened to have a moose "Hunt" me out sneaking literally up behind me on a path. Was a great hike, radio/cell were dead and I took that path that just seemed to go around that pond you thought went back to the same spot you started from but... Anyway about 5 hours later I had just built a rock bridge and crossed a small stream then proceeded down what almost looked like a familiar ATV trail. It was when I realized I was again going the wrong way that I decided to turn around and I was at best 30ft away from a full size Bull with a rack of antlers wider than my arms. We stared at each other for a good 20 seconds, Bull didn't move when I faked like a bear, 2 rounds in the air from the SKS honestly had this guy shrugging his shoulders and walking off to the side. I think if I made a step back or ran he'd have charged me for sure. This was honestly the first moose I've ever seen and it taught me who's boss of the woods.

So for this year I have purchased
1x battery pack/charger unit for my cell phone
2x new radios
20x orange clip tags to use bread crumb style as trail markers
a new map topographical paper map of the camp (I mistakenly believed that the map posted on the camp wall was oriented North as up when I did my bearings in the morning)

Look you guys:

I posted the story. It is directly from my friend's Facebook post.

She lives alone in Alaska. She is a bush pilot, journalist, film maker, hunter and fisher.

Not a a bull####ter.

I thought it was an interesting yarn to pass on.

I don't frankly give a #### whether some of you believe it or not.

Moose will most often go the other way, most often. Strange things happen sometimes. Had a young bull in my backyard that acted like a wild stallion and stormed against the house and at one point appeared to want to break down the back door and enter. Eventually settled down and left. If they feel they are cornered or threatened, they will not back down.
A Friend had an episode a couple of weeks ago with a large bull, they pulled into the parking spot by their camper and the bull came out of nowhere, up on his hind legs and smashed the windshield with the fronts. Story goes that someone else had been chasing the moose with a vehicle earlier and I guess he had enough of vehicles.
