Moose herd pic

Algonquin Park

Back in about 1993 while timber cruising in Algonquin Park I came over a ridge and looked down over the edge and saw a similar sized herd of bulls before there horns dropped. No camera though, dammit!! I will never forget it, horns everywhere.

Interesting comment, we were near Crow River in the park two years ago and walked into a herd of 9 big bull moose, all with darn big racks in early January and one bull elk with them. An unknown number of cows with calves had trotted on ahead of this group and the bulls just stood around gazing at us for 10-15 minutes.

The sight of those Newfoundland moose out in the open like that is really interesting--great picture!

here is a photo of a moose by my farm

I have never seen that many in one group, but in the early 60's, while hunting during a late season, I saw 17 all together in a bunch. They had yarded up in a stand of Aspen and red willow/elder brush, and they were not in a hurry to go anywhere, even after I smoked one of them with my 30-06. It's always a thrill to see a herd like that, particularly since ordinarily, one may see 2-5 in a group and that is it. Regards, Eagleye.

Cool Pics guys!!

Is the # of moose in Nfld still up in the 600,000 range?

Dam that province is loaded for moose.

Wow. By the time you figure on how many people have departed for Ft. Mcmurray, there are about a thousand moose for every man, woman and child still left in Newfoundland!:D :D ;) :p

According to the prov. govt, there is about 120,000 moose on the island portion of the province, and about 90,000 woodland caribou.

With the snow in the forests now, I see moose tracks EVERY time I go for a hike.

I saw a moose downtown on my way to work here in Corner Brook! haha

The most I have seen was 10 in one spot on a snowmobile trip on the Northern Pen. Newfoundland is loaded with moose.

I actually was talking to the guy who took that pic in Gander a few months ago when crossing on the ferry to Labrador....small world...
