I am planning to sleep in a tent on the ground. A few friends and we will see what happenes.

I thought we've talked you out of it :p

what's a cot gonna' cost you extra? add some wool blankets too. Same milsurp store...

Will spend another year in our outfitters tent (14x16).

This year we will build a floor and that floor will be the beginning of a cabin, we will pick at it year by year. We won't be in to this camp until Nov.

Calling season will be spent in a family camp I am setting up on the Peace River. It is accesible by boat and once again, we are in the tent.

The outfitter that we hooked up has 2 converted buses, he takes them out to
the bush near where he's been logging, sets them up, all ready to go, even drops off portable outhouses, generator and propane. First time with this guy,
looking forward to it, scored 2 bull tags, area 21A.:D

so what do you moose hunter,s use for the floor of your tents?... we use a tarp double folded up,then we cover that with the felt they use in the paper mills...it keeps the floor dry and comfy,in fact walking in bare feet is neaver a problem

Only used a tarp in the past, not the greatest.

But we have a load of 2x4 and OSB that should be a lot more comfy under the feet then the blue tarp.

Hopefully the floor will make it a little warmer too

fogducker, I know a few mill people I'm going to see what I can get for my 5 man army tent. I bought it from brockville surplus, this year I am buying the arctic liner, and spending the dough to make a proper pole.

my gang is renting an trailer, on the big side, but still the type you pull , not drive. renting it from the thunder bay area & just parking it & making that our camp. my first moose hunt. I'm vary excited, it's almost time, just a month away. picking up my browning bar .300 win mag next week :) !!

oh, trailer has toilet & maye a shower, kitchen, etc... bringing my poker set for down time

We go with the army tent, works excellent, well except for the floor.....

Fogducker, blargon & gth nice tents! We are only two so.. We hunt for moose when we get a draw at 100 Milehouse in B.C. We go for 1 week. My brother has a Dodge (higher ground clearnace than his old Ford) 3/4 t, 4x4 p.u., crew cab with 10 ' camper. We take a boat on top for the down time. We drop the camper and set up camp on his buddies property/cabin. We don't set up in the woods, we don't want some one help themselves to our stuff. We need to drive up to 50 km between hunting areas. My wife and I have used motels in the Grand Forks area of southern B.C. on deer hunts. I ask if they welcome hunters when I phone. They gladly accept our money since it is low season for them. The tough part is finding one that has a place to hang game. I guess the tents are for groups of 5+? Does someone stay at camp all day? I would like to see a thread about "how to run hunting camp". It would be interesting for someone like me who hunts with less than 3.
