Not wrong at all.
They may not need to have an outdoors card but they do indeed need a hunters safety course, and PAL to use a firearm!
I never said they needed an outdoors card!

I have worked in Algonquin Park for a very long time. Both before, and after the regulating has come into effect, and have seen the moose population beging to climb again.
The tag system is in agreement with MNR, and is sighned every year based on population number, and is working! Not sure about everywhere else in ONT but it is working here. No tag = no moose!


I know first hand of charges that have been laid for infractions, and yes charges did stick.

Manitoba is for all intents and purposes a "free fire zone".

I admittedly don't know that much about Ontario hunting regs. There are enough of them for this province. :)

However, in regard to your above statement, I'm assuming you know about the Aboriginal Peoples of Canada Adaptations Regulations (Firearms) and how it pertains to the PAL,etc.

Hunting
In recognition of treaty and constitutional rights, when hunting or trapping for food on
lands where they have a right of access, status Indian people:
�� do not require licences;
�� are not restricted to specific seasons;
�� are not restricted to bag limits.
Status Indians generally have right of access to hunt for food within:
�� Indian Reserves, Wildlife Management Areas, Provincial Forests, areas of Provincial
Parks where licenced hunting is permitted, unoccupied Crown lands, and other Crown
lands where licensed hunting or trapping is permitted;
�� Private land with the permission of the landowner or occupant;
�� Federal lands, such as community pastures and the Shilo Military Range, when such
lands are opened to the public for hunting, or with the permission of the Pasture
Manager or Base Commander.
 
Thats wild stuff.
I would raise a fuss to whoever in government who would listen.One voice isn't going to do anything though. Start a petition is all I can tell ya. If you have a Manitoba outdoor magazine grab their ear also. Don't be pushed around.....PUSH BACK!

No "outdoor card" needed...firearms safety certificate?...firearms registration?? Whole place is a free fire zone as far as I'm concerned. Anything goes...day, night, what ever. Private land, livestock, fences, not much respect for any of it.:rolleyes:
 
We have the opposite problem here on the rock. There are too many friggin moose! We need a season where anyone with a Pal/outdoor card should be able to go and buy a set of tags and fill them. Just 1 season every 10 years or so would do the trick. Those friggers are everywhere here! ;)

That was my point about Nfld and Sweden. They're missing certain "predators".

I caught that ;). However that would not even put a dent in it here. There is an area on the Avalon that is the most poached on the island and still has the healthiest population. They are like rabbits here!

There is one stretch of road thats 22km long between my wife's parents and my parent houses, wehere I have counted as high as 18 moose on the side of the road. I don't know how many times I have seen a dozen moose on that stretch. Moose kill more people here in a year than firearms have since we entered confederation!

We need a moose registry ;)
