"...prohibit unlicensed hunting..." That's already illegal.
Yeah right.
Read between the lines...

How about some wolves then, got lots of those as well.![]()
and by that token , the " other canadians " should have just as many rights as a " native " person .

They've been here longer than us that's all.
That's debatable actually
I caught that. However that would not even put a dent in it here. There is an area on the Avalon that is the most poached on the island and still has the healthiest population. They are like rabbits here!
There is one stretch of road thats 22km long between my wife's parents and my parent houses, wehere I have counted as high as 18 moose on the side of the road. I don't know how many times I have seen a dozen moose on that stretch. Moose kill more people here in a year than firearms have since we entered confederation!
We need a moose registry![]()
Very misleading title to this thread.
wow... seriously? I think I remember my hunting instructor telling us that getting a moose tag for that island was a gamble and next to impossible for out-of-towners.... is that true?
if not, I need to convince the old man to change hunting locations, then we will have more than a chance at getting something!!![]()
I don't know what the non-resident draw numbers are like. However residents you can get a tag just about every year if you hunt the right area. My dad usually hunts long harbor Fortune bay and has a tag every couple years. On the avalon its about every 3 years for a party licence and every 5 years for individual. The moose population here is so large they can't even get an accurate count. They pretend they do but the proof is in the pudding![]()
I think the Manitoba gov't showing some conservation policies is a great thing. We need to manage our wildlife in order to have it in the future. As far as policing poachers it is pretty difficult and possibly something that local groups could work with DNR to help fight.
