Well as usual anything I plan is interupted by poor weather and this year is no different!! I'm off to N. Quebec for the moose rifle season for a week just to have a forecast of 9-14 degree weather as high's and overcast and rain for four days. Help me out here and get a grasp of what to expect and how to modify my hunt plans to drop a bull in these conditions. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated! The area is boat access only and has no clear cuts...just rivers, creeks, swamps and some meadows.

LOL...I'm sorry, I just found it funny that Chilly Willy starts a thread about hunting in a cold front:D

And good luck on the hunt

do as i do..if i think its warm weather..i bring a small bag of rags..if it says cold i bring a big bag of rags...
after years of trying to predict the weather..i ve learned to be prepared to hit any kind of #### possible

so now its not a small bag...its not a big bag..its two bags of rags that would get me through almost any weather this #### hole of ontario can toss my way..it just sucks for the moose hunt to haul all for a 22 hour drive..and not use nothing but a tee shirt.. but better to over prepared then under

if it's raining real hard Chilly it's hard to hunt them unless your willing to get out and walk. However light rain won't stop a moose from coming to the water. They are not too keen on big winds either but if your going during the rut, caliing is very effective. I would say, stay in your boat (canoe I hope) and call, especially in the early morning and at night. If you get responses hunt them, if not go back to the same spots the next day. A lot of time a bull will hear the call and head in that direction but may not arrive until the night and stay there looking for the cow (you) good luck. Also, I've found that moose tend to like smaller bodies of water when they have a choice, so work the rivers, small ponds and swamps ower big lakes.
