Moose hunting on Monday

Well, spent several hours checking prime moose habitat, but......no moose. :(
Such is life, sometimes you win, others you lose. Still quite warm out there.
I'll give it another go in a couple of days. Dave.

How was it Dave?
As for keeping the meat, no need to in my experience, but to each there own!

Moose is by far my favorite animal to hunt but I have to say that I would have a hard time getting excited about hunting velvet moose in short and T-shirt, in 30°, getting eaten by mosquitoes while swatting flies. That being said, good luck and post some pics when you making happen!

LEH opened for me on Aug 15. But.....still no moose. Had a long look at one old cow, but
Bullwinkle himself probably staying in the shade, lol. Dave.

Ya, this time of year, the Bulls will still be feeding and very close to water. Probably haven't even started raking off velvet yet?

Hope you fill your tag! With the price of meat these days ....

Unfortunately, the fact that some hunters rely on their hunt to feed their families is little known outside hunting communities. My friend Gordon lives with a small pension and has much difficulty with his finances whenever he does not fill his deer tag. By the way, he is the kind of guy who shoots two cartridges a year: one to make sure he is within 3 inches of target at 100 yards and one for the deer. A box of ammo lasts him 10 years and brings him 10 deer as he never misses nor shoots beyond 100 yards with his 308.

Good luck Dave with your mosse hunt.
