Moose hunting with your wife?

My sweetheart comes along most times when I go hunting. She likes the outdoors and earned her PAL just before the holiday season. Now we have to find a rifle that will suit her. I'd like to see her carry a 7mm08 because I think it has a lot of versatility for game. But she may have to start with a smaller caliber, til she gets used to shooting a center fire rifle. Having another gun in the field is a bonus.

I think the OP will find the best answer by talking to his wife. She might want to hunt from a B&B or from bivy sack- there is no way to know. Going to a lodge makes things easier and more comfortable so seems wise, but my wife has been marking the days on the calender for two weeks in a tent in the alpine for some time now. The only lodges I know to recommend are way up in northwestern ontario.

It could be a good time to hunt with the wife but it really does screw up the dynamic of the group. I would be pissed off if someone brought their wife into our group. I would go hunt somewhere else. I guess it depends on the situation and the people involved.

Best to leave the wife at home & take the girlfriend.....:xes

Don't forget the rubber boots!ha:

My wife really likes deer hunting, but I must admit, I am the guide when we go out... Fun, but more work for me, which to be honest, I like teasing & being ribbed over the whole thing.

She will also occassionally go duck & goose hunting, more to watch our crazy mutt in action, but it's still good fun.

I don't use hunting as a method to get away from 'the other half'... I quite enjoy bragging about her exploits!

Cheers
Jay
