Check this out. The woodland Caribou population is tiny in this unit. This is truly a Toronto driven agenda.

The caribou population is tiny because of the moose/deer population and the relationship with timber wolves. MNR is trying to drive down the moose and deer populations, and subsequently wolves, in that area to see if the caribou population can recover.

The new Endangered Species Act basically requires the MNR to manage for Caribou there.

I hunt 21A... I'm fine with more moose tags... I don't think it will help the caribou one bit though... But it will fill my freezer.

Just spent another week there and saw one moose track in a week of hunting north of Terrace Bay. Keep going back as home country for my 81 year old father and as long as he keeps coming hunting, i will go there.

Lots of tags, lots of pissed off hunters, many saying they will not go back again.

I have hunted in that Wmu for 45 years with him, worked in it in the early - mid 80's, and I can tell you there are very few moose left in any road accessible areas.

I am all for managing the Caribou. But what you are saying is they want to control the wolves so to do that they need to reduce the moose and deer population????
Perhaps they should look at opening the spring bear hunt again and opening the wolf hunting season. Knock down three species to try and bring up one!!!! Something just doesn't fit!
Moose Caribou and deer don't fight for food or habitat so that shouldn't bother each species, the worst thing is brain worm that deer carry!!! I am not sure that this is the best method to try and grow Caribou Populations
