Hey all
Well to start off, our camp of 40 years, of those I spent 20, folded after the death of the owner. The family called it quits and the camp now sits as a fishing and summer camp only.
Last year we found an outfitter near where we used to hunt and the price was reasonable but the camp and service was not great. Access was not easy and with 3, 65 to 70 year olds who are set in their ways, it tough to be accommodating.
I will not mention the camp because I don't want to be that guy.

So I have been on the net looking for a new place to go. I was hoping that I could get a recommendation from the gun nutz community.

We are three 45 year old and three old guys. We have trucks and one 4 wheeler but have always been lake hunters, hitting the points, rivers, bogs, cuts off a body of water. With the way the tags are we need an adult tag, not fussy on the ###. The old guys will not stay in tents etc so cabins with heat and hydro are a must.

We would be willing to drive from wawa to timmins and everywhere south of that. I am just north of the GTA.
Any help and recommendations would be a big help.

Thanks in advance
Jordy

The hardest thing is most outfitters that include tags are not geared to dealing with Ontario residents. The want the US ones as they pay what every the cost is no questions ask. Have checked in WMU that have a large adult tage allocation that would make sure you got an adult tag ? I know last year I was looking a 19 and 21a and got alot of good feedback about Wild Goose lake resort, also Lochlomaond camp a few said was ok. If your looking just for place to stay there slim and fair between because most want the all in one hunt from the US folks. You might be best putting a post up on the OOD fourm as it's mostly Ontario hunters and see what comes up. There are more then likely places that aren't even online.

Good luck!! First off 21a has extremely limited hunting spots!! Lots of tags, wonder why? Guys are
Camped in their spots Monday b4 opening day. Archery hunters set up, hunt the week b4 and subsequently reserve their spot for rifle. We went in as " deep" as you can go and found little or few road access points. White
Wolf out of long lac " cottages" were very good and cottage was fine. Problem was 1 1/2 hr travel in and out each day. This is an old logged area. Little or no clearcuts 30 year old new growth. We found Great Lake and camping spot to water hunt and get back in, only to have other hunters just drag their boats thru our camp and enter lake. Extremely frustrating WMU. I have been on dozens of fly ins with numerous outfitters. They all seem just great til they have the $$ then the surprises start. I would really like to find another spot myself!! Didn't even go last year. :( Good luck .

Air Ivanhoe
Near timmins
Ask for Joel they will be at sportsman show
We got two bulls on archery tags last fall
50" and 47"
Day one
Could have taken 10 of them along with just as many cows.
This guy puts you in hot spots, and works hard to get you a great hunt.
Pm me if interested I can look up the number.
Wasn't expensive either

Did you do the fly in or drive in hunt?

Check out Tatnall camp on Oba lake - they have a web site. You go in by Algoma Central RR out of Hawk Junction near Wawa.

I have hunted 21A for over 40 years - the last 5 have been unreal - hunters everywhere due to excessive numbers of tags and NO moose. We have a camp there and you cant swing a dead cat in the bush without hitting another hunter

Used to hunt in 21A went off of McKay Lake near Long Lac up to the other end Pic and Pout rivers go out. Quite a boat ride. That being said I quit hunting up that way 15 years ago because every time I set up in a cut or anywhere else without the long boat ride, call a couple of times and then a truck would drive through. Just like Wallmart....
