Had a friend get called into a fishing camp in the Charlottes to weigh a Halibut, 850+ pounds if I remember, good for nothing but Dungy Bait

And pictures... That's a slab of a fish. Biggest I've seen was 202 and that thing was a cow.

That picture was taken in my hometown. Story had it that the guy shot it out on an island in Lake Superior and it was too big to fit in his float plane. Definitely a case of way too much money, but at least the guy went through the effort to recover the entire animal and not just the rack!

That's what it appears like in the photo shown... But at the landing there was only a rack tied to the rope.

I shot a video of this particular recovery; the photo is a freeze frame from the video and I promise you it was several provinces away from Lake Superior.

Thats a big halibut considering the world record is around 500 lbs.

Have seen Americans use this method of recovery with elk. With public land surrounded by private ranches, its cheaper to fly in and out by heli, than its is to pay trespass fees.

if it's more then 10hrs work for me to get it to my truck I would pay the $1000.00 to have it moved.
That's if its hot outside and there was a chance of the meat going bad.

I was going to point this out but hey, what's a fish story without a little exaggeration?
And for the record these hunters were not super wealthy, it was more a matter of having an uncle who owns a couple of whirlybirds. He's not very into hunting but has a 10 year old son who has been bitten by the bug so fingers crossed for next year.

Unfortunately it is illegal to use a Helicopter to transport hunters and game animals from here in BC.
