Moose rifle?

I don't mind being a fudd.
I personally think those so called thumbhole things kinda look like an A hole of a thing. My two cents..

Which are you ...... Fudd or Thumbhole?

Ahhh, well... you fella's continue to dis the thumbhole... but on a cold, lonely night in a remote tent camp, they bring comfort in a way that only a truly big bore can (well, a .224" should be gud nuff for you SC)... and they do it without the uncomfortable rifling...

at 200 bucks cheaper than a ruger 1 it is

That`s an argument that could go on forever, based solely on price.

As far as you betting ``You wanta go out of the box tikka bolt vs out of the box pump some time? I'd lay mooch denaro on that``, you havent even said that you have a Tikka`or which model or ever shot a Rem pump. I do have a 7600 in .270 Win, that has dropped the jaw and raised the eyebrow, of bolt guys at the range. Anyone who says the 7600 isn`t a great moose gun, as compared to a bolt gun, is FOS and most likely never had one in their hands. Most are scared to praise the pump, for fear of attack from the bolt guys. I have both and would certainly take my pump, if the terrain was at all brushy, which for moose, it most likely is.

No, I would say it is. Kimber and Cooper aren't average bolt rifles but a Tikka, the spinster step-sister of the Sako, is right squarely in the middle of the road with the Vanguard, M700 and several others.

That`s funny, considering we are from the same province. Tikka might have been average a few years back, but times have changed since Savage and Remington brought out their cheapies............Axis and 770. Based on what I see, in person and on buying & selling pages, online, average has changed in our area. In Alberta, maybe the Tikka is average. My perspective is based on the fact that I only know one gent who owns Sakos and Tikkas. Kimber and Cooper are average, if you want to research what`s out there, in other parts of the world, if you base your opinion solely on price.

So you're basing your average on popularity instead of quality?

Ya when they hold the 1000 meter matches the benches are just lined with pump guns. Why? their more accurate of course. Now get hold of Yourself. "PRAISE THE PUMP". I got to leave this conversation I'm not supposed to strain myself and these cramps are killing me

Nobody said anything about 1000 yards, dude. As far as shooting a moose goes, the pump can be the perfect tool. I`m saying that most bolt guys who don`t give the pump a chance, have likely never shot one. If you open your mind, those cramps will go away, ya know:)

This gave me a smile, of course the long range and bench rest folks aren't going to choose a pump, they're all dependent on rests, bipods and the pump action doesn't really play well with those requirements. Give it real world positions, and demand practical accuracy and reliable performance and a pump will supply it every time. If successfully killing game required thousandths of an inch precision repeatable accuracy man kind would have failed to become the dominant species on our planet.

I'll repeat again the quote
"PRAISE THE PUMP"
Under unique circumstances the pump sure does fine, but. If You want the bird to cover everything you might come across on a walk from 20 yds to 300 yds You know You want a bolt. Of course You realize I view this from the point of view that a gun should only fire at most two shots. One anchors him, the other MAY get used as a mercy shot. The whole pump/semi spray and pray is lost on me for larger game animals

You clearly have no idea how well the 760 and 7600s group and how reliable they are. I`ve never heard anyone say spray and pray, when referring to a pump rifle, until now............what a maroon:)
