Moose Season

Is Presgrave hunting with you this year?

He just called me on my cell today. He's pretty busy right now with the #7 blast furnace being down but says he'll be at camp when it comes.

I guess I left 8 buckets of apples in the driveway of the deer camp last time I was there and apparently I had 2 6 pointers and an 8 eating out of them. My buddy Jamie was there working on the addition and said a doe and a fawn knocked them right over last night while he was standing at the fire outside and the generator was running.

The funny part is that the poor bugger thought bow season started next weekend and not this weekend and he watched them all walk away not knowing he could have taken a shot at one of the bucks in the daytime. Bet he's gonna cry himself to sleep tonight.

Just got back from my trip south of Sherbrooke. :(:(
Unfortunately no luck.
Hopefully more luck with deer. Had a 4-point eating in front of me for 1/2 an hour, and the other guys in my group had a bunch of 6 and 8 pointers on the game cameras.
Ended up using my backup piece(had scope trouble with the BAR) the AIA #4MkIV

I packed my Tikka T3 300WSM shooting 165gr nosler partitions and topped with a VX II 3-9X50mm. This gun has taken 4 moose with the farthest shot being 125 yds and the closes was this year at 15 steps! Called in the young bull and was waiting for a broadside shot, wasn't happening so I stopped him with a quartering chest shot right through the heart. Can't beat the partitions on moose! Pictures to come soon.

Used my go to rifle. Its a 340Gibbs (338-06 on steroids). FN Mauser action with a 26inch stainless barrel. This is the 5th moose this rifle had downed over the years. Scope is a Leupold VXIII 2.5x8. Load is 65gr 4350 behind a 200gr Nosler ballistic tip
