I went to the MNR the other day to transfer our moose tag from my wife to another member of our party, and the two women sitting at the desk doing nothing, said" We're not doing that until September."

Anyone ever do a transfer and how long did it take to get the new tag???

they like to make sure that everyone got their tags first.you know in case of lost tags and people forgetting to update their addresses .so ya sounds about right

We did a tranfer last year and paid the ten dollars with no problem at a district office. It was in August?

How long did it take to get the new tag? or do they just print up a new label right there?

They just printed the new one while we waited. Maybe the clerks are upset with the new Service Ontario offices that took away some of their jobs?

So if they print the new one right there will they give it to me or do I have to take the member of the party with me that will be the transfer reciever?

Went yesterday to do the transfer at the Ottawa Ontario service centre.

Since they were new to this and I was their very first moose tag transfer customer there was a bit of a learning curve but on the whole it went well. You have to fill out a transfer form containing your license #, moose tag # of recipient (which is on the moose seal you get), name & address & license # of recipient, group application #, etc.. you can get all this information (which was a very good thing :D since of course I was missing some of the info  ) from their computer data screen as soons as you provide the recipient's moose license #.

I paid $9.90 something (used to be $10 before the GST rate dropped to 6%). They then copied the information from the original seal on to a sticker which is for me to mail to the recipient. From some of the earlier posts I guess some places can print the sticker. However since all the info is on the terminals there should be no need to have the recipient present...

so all in all it went well. now that they've done the first one anybody else in Ottawa who goes in & has it done in 5 or 10 minutes can buy me a :beerchug: ;)
