I’m so sick of answering questions for guys who see bull #### in ads for 98k. I start one of these threads every so often.
There’s a mint Portugese contract for sale now the owner claims went to German forces. But is clearly mint and obviously came from the Portugal imports in the 90s.
I will state it again for anyone who is interested in learning.
Port M1941 contract was F, G, and H block. It was supposed to be
20K F blocks
20K G blocks
And
10k H blocks.
50k
What’s well known is that some were diverted to German use early on. Hence the H block went to 20k.
But the guns that the Germans kept in 1941 went into the meat grinder.... not minty storage as some would dream. They went to Russia, and Norway. They only show up as Russian captures or Norway reworks. The only other way to prove it is a depot mark on the gun. Which I’ve not yet seen. So to reiterate, if you have a port contract gun, and it’s original and nice, it came from Portugal. Full stop. Your dreams of grandeur won’t change that.
I’ve dealt with this specific topic about 10 times in 5 years. If of the gun has reasonable use, the Portuguese used these rifles. They got 50k, a fraction of those remained mint and were imported.
