I’m from Quebec the most socialist of our provinces ,it’s a sad day indeed for us gun owners .Saying goodbye to my AR15 shooting days as well as most probably my JR and SKS .All in all I’ve read 14 pages of responses from those who have thrown in the towel and those who want to fight.On a scary note are those who don’t understand the big picture of governments disarming citizens which boggles my mind how they don’t see why (claim it’s a conspiracy).

All I can say is if you read up on WW2 and how Germany disarmed their population , I’m not sure if WW2 would have continued as long as it did if they were armed.My guess that government would have been removed well before their entire country was destroyed .I know already many will say , the Canadian government isn’t the nazi party you have gone to far in your analysis.Yes I understand that right now you look at the country and say “it’s not that bad”. What you need to say to yourself is “it’s not bad ....yet”. You think all that money we just printed for this poorly managed virus will bring prosperity to Canada? Less taxes,no inflation? We are heading for some dark economic times which will lead to hard family times .So for those who think I’m laying down my guns to keep what I’ve built for my family and kids safe ......you need to start thinking past the next 30days in your life.

With the utter moron in charge of this country not allowing the growth and usage of our natural resources (at least those we haven’t sold to China yet),our economy has no way of recovering.With the greenhouse initiative that’s choking our revenue ,the oil we refuse to tap,the already astronomical taxes,and now the doomed debt levels we can’t pay back .... really? You really can’t see why they want us disarmed ? Come on folks please for common sense sake look at the total picture and look at what is coming very soon .I hate being some sort of bad news charley here , I’m not a negative person in my real life.Ive managed to keep my job through this,am engaged with a kid on the way ,healthy and well fed ....I like to be mostly optimistic,but I’m not blind either .

I’ve asked before , but kinda don’t understand - but can’t the opposition parties like veto their - liberal dumb ass gun control measures , since it’s a minority government or something ?
 
Some of your comments are way offside, your childish and illegal ideas do nothing for our cause.

I understand you, we, all of us are upset but please act like adults!

Some of you are playing right into their hands on why AR’s “should” be prohibited.

The government is going after low hanging fruit because fixing the problem properly is far to complicated for them to handle.

We need to stick together and be smart on how we handle ourselves and this situation, and all act and articulate yourself responsibly please.

No armed rallies, if you think this is a viable option you are part of the problem and not part of the solution.

Likely they'll grandfather, even with allowing range use, for now. Its the logical and financial best case scenerio for the Libs;

No money wasted or bad publicity on a failed buyback which would both look bad come election time.

Very little resistance from gunowners cause they will settle for being able to still shoot at a range.

All owners of the NR guns on the list would have the option to hide their guns and keep them off the record but never be able to legally shoot them. Or, register them and shoot them at the range, they now know where they all are for the next step.

Because they technically went through with prohibiting these firearms, even though they are all still out there, they will claim every day without a mass shooting as a victory. Although this was never a problem with legally owned guns to begin with, their voters are idiots and will see this as a win which will hide all the liberals other shortcomings. They already know they arent getting our votes, they need to hang onto the voters they already had and its no surprise a lot of them havent been happy lately.

You'd think the government would put more money into ranges to accomodate the rise in use and help lower memberships but they'll do the exact opposite. Stricter rules causing many to close or have costly upgrades. Federally controlled higher taxes etc for ranges will go up, doesnt matter which province you live in. This results in raising membership fees in the process and driving more gun owners away. More taxes on ammo making it expensive. They'll still have the buyback going, they arent relying on it as their up front plan, but it will be ab option and through all this some will crack and sell.

Now that there are less numbers and then they drop the hammer and ban by features. Detachable mags, muzzle devices, shoulder things that go up, etc. Next step full out ban. Then they resurrect hitler. Jk.


Minimal resistance, minimal negative press, minimal exposure to liberal voters so they can keep spinning a false narrative to them, minimal cost.

This. If it’s similar to the CZ858 where you can still buy and sell them based on a new 12(x) license then I’ll keep my rifles. If not, I can’t justify having something I’ll never be able to use.

Looks like that is the plan assuming they fall under 12(9) although who is to say.

This. Couldn't have said it better myself. They stir the pot. Cause fear in the firearms world. Then pretend to concede. Pretend to play ball with firarms owners. But its really just a slow march to an ultimate goal.

There's always a chance, however slim, that the CPC/PPC/some right wing political party could win a majority in 4 years, after the lefties sour on the idiots they elected most recently, and reverse the damage. I think those that have suggested their are hard times ahead economically and otherwise are correct. The question is, when is it too late to regain control, reverse the damage, and right the ship? Will the low info, CBC watching, gullible, naive, apathetic, want more free stuff, voters figure it out eventually, when they're rooting through the same trash piles as us, looking for food? Never say "it can't happen here" because it IS happening here.
If this scenario, a CPC majority, is a possibility, I'm thinking keep my stuff for 4 years and see how it goes. Unless the payouts are really enticing. Might as well get something for them, if they're going to confiscate them eventually anyways. Maybe we'll all become marksmen with our new bolt actions?

Election is going to be much sooner than 4 years. Trudeau can call one whenever he wants due to being in a minority. My bet is he goes next spring if we have come out of the pandemic and while his base is still riding high on all the free money he gave them. I bet he'd go now if he thought he could get away with it.....His approval numbers are in the 70's.

Why, yes, it does.
I figure if some of us take the cash, instead of what's behind door # zero, they'll just claw it back by raising taxes. Which brings us to their next probable project.
Wealth redistriburion, through punitive taxation of those that have money, so they can redistribute it to those who don't.
Wouldn't surprise me if they bought some extra votes with the "basic annual income" ploy.
