I started out with my 35 Whelen shooting 250 gr Hornady's at 100 yards and got the 35 into 1/2 inch at that distance. The Speer 250's grouped slightly bigger but were under and inch and will be good enough to hunt with.
After about an hour of shooting a fellow gunnut shows up with a Czech 858, an M14 , a brand new BLR in 308 and his trusty Rem 700 in 06.
The 858 had a red dot type scope and it was a spray and pray thing for me anyway. The BLR was very accurate with the irons and was on par with the m14 in the accuracy department.
The m14 was very heavy despite the small appearance of it, I can imagine it would be lots of fun with a 30 shot mag and a truck load of ball ammo.
All in a days fun............:D

This is what my .35 Whelan can do at 100m, 200gr Rem Core-lokts. Caldwell Rockjr front rest:

I'm pretty happy with it. Hopefully, I'll be happier when it downs me a moose or elk this fall.

Those are factory 200s. Core Lokt PSP. 2675fps and 3177ft/lbs at the muzzle. 2100fps and 1958ft/lbs at 200yds which is about the average shot at moose camp.
I'm not reloading yet, but I'm certainly saving up enough brass for it. I've been going to the range about once every week and a half.
